10/25/17 - Arcade Fire @ Pepsi Center - Denver, CO

Arcade Fire brought the "Infinite Content Tour" to the Pepsi Center this past Wednesday. The night opened with Colombian band Bomba Estero who brought tropical electric vibes to the stage. Afterwards, Arcade Fire entered the Pepsi Center in a very unique way — the centered staged was set like a boxing ring with ropes on all four corners and instruments inside the ring. The band members entered the ring from the floor level, walking through the crowd as an announcer introduced Arcade Fire like a heavyweight champion of music. The group opened with the title track of their Everything Now album and immediately the crowd began to dance as the disco balls dropped. Photography by Meg O’Neill ( @letgomymego )

"All my songs are really sad, so if you were looking to have a fun night... too bad, you're already here." Denver's first Radical Face show was everything the faithful fans could have wanted. Sets of unique songs with quirky, tragic, yet comical stories in between. 10/16/2017 - Red Hot Chili Peppers @ The Pepsi Center - Denver, CO

After having to postpone their original Denver show date, the Red Hot Chili Peppers returned to Denver without missing a beat. The best bass player in the entire world (in my humble opinion), Flea entered the Pepsi Center stage at the start of the show to announce the opener and childhood friend Jack Irons who killed it on drums. Afterwards, Trombone Shorty got the party bumping with their fun big New Orleans jazzy band. Both openers were the stuff of legends and fans were thoroughly amped for their favorite band to play. The RHCP started with some classic shredding on the bass, guitar and drums before lead singer Anthony Kiedis came on stage to sing to, or maybe rather with, the crowd.  The night was a wonderful celebration for both Flea's birthday and for the love of music. The talent of this musical group could be seen and heard throughout the whole Pepsi Center. I was simply in awe of finally getting to photograph one of my most favorite groups. 10/04/2017 - Allan Rayman @ The Globe Hall - Denver, CO

I couldn't have picked a better venue to see my favorite artist of all time, Allan Rayman, than The Globe Hall. The quirky music venue/BBQ restaurant had all the backwoods subtleties of something you might find in a music video from Rayman's  first album Hotel Allan. The opener consisted of a three piece mariachi band that was confusing, yet delightfully enjoyable for a San Antonio native. My excitement began to build as the venue begin to crowd and Allan came on stage. His bad boy James Dean mystic mixed with his incomparable raspy  vocals lived up to all of my expectations. Even in the way he flailed his body around on stage was almost as if the music was completely taking over just exploding at the seems to come out of him. All my dreams came true when after the performance Allan Rayman stuck around and I was able to express my gratitude for a true artist who got me REALLY listening to music. 9/27/17 - Fleet Foxes & Beach House @ Red Rocks - Morrison, CO

Shrouded in silhouette, Beach House set the stage for a mystical and complex night of musical feat. 09/22/2017 - Kaleo Night 1 @ Paramount Theater - Denver, CO

Kaleo had everyone in the crowd swooning this past Friday at their first of two nights performance at the Paramount. The band rocked out hard leaving very few people in their seats throughout the whole show. From the giant map of Iceland as their backdrop, to the small ones around stage, the band proudly represented and honored their home country. Despite their set  only lasting an hour, fans left on a high excited note looking forward to more new music and to night two! Photography by Meg O'Neill ( @letgomymego ).

09/19/2017 - Ben Folds @ Ogden Theatre - Denver, CO

"Everyone do us a favor. Take out your smartphones, call the person next to you and put them on speaker. Then put the phones together, ying and yang or 69 style." The cellist of Tall Heights told the crowd, "Make music with us." The packed Ogden theatre felt like a small intimate venue while Tall Heights played and it stayed that way once Ben Folds took the stage. With his piano set center stage, Ben drew the crowd in with familiar fan favorites and comical anecdotes. Before intermission, he deligated to the audience to collect a paper from his table in the back and write down songs they would like him to play when he returned to the stage.  But before he left to take a short break he gave everyone one more song and surprised everyone with live assembly and jam on a drum set that had been stashed around the stage. Before he returned a man dressed in an elf costume holding two red flashing lights commanded the crowd to fold their papers into airplanes and throw them to the stage on the count of 10. At one well over one hundred paper airplanes soared through the air landing on the stage. Ben returned to the stage and began picking the pieces of paper up 1 by 1 and began playing the first 10 songs he saw on the pages. It was a memorable show filled with new music as well as old favorites that got the crowd cheering. @papabirdphoto

09/15/2017 - Banks @ The Ogden - Denver, CO

Banks mysteriously dark allure dominated the sound waves of The Ogden Friday night. The theater became dark and ominous as we waited for Banks. She entered the staged draped in black mesh cloth with two dancers, keeping the vibes real spooky. Throughout the night Banks not only displayed her broad range in vocals, but impressed the crowd with accompanying top notch dance moves. Banks showed Denver a killer performance.  Photography by Meg O'Neill ( @letgomymego ).

9/5/17 - Lil Yachty @ The Ogden - Denver, C0

Lil Boat and his sailing crew brought a rowdy night to The Ogden. Complete with mosh pits, a variety of snacks being thrown into the air and even some audience participation, there was hardly a dull moment on Lil Yachty's stop in the Mile High City.

9/1/17 - GRiZ @ Red Rocks - Morrison, CO

Hometown hero and funk master GRiZ debuted his full band this labor day weekend at Red Rocks. Fans packed into the venue to witness what GRiZ had been cooking up in secret for the opening night of his two-night run. Fans got down with the funk late into the night and the band stayed super tight all night. All photography by Alden Bonecutter @alden.co

09/02/2017 - Griz Night 2 @ Red Rocks - Morrison, CO

Griz brought even more groove to Red Rocks for his second night this past weekend. The whole show included a line up of some funky fun cats like  Falcon Punch,  Jnthn Stein, and Brasstracks. By the time the openers wrapped up, the SOLD OUT Red Rocks crowd was fired up and ready to party. Griz gave a set with a wide variety of deep dubstep mixes, funky dancing saxophone notes, and a bit of chill psychedelic vibes. Overall the show encompassed all that fans could have hoped for and more! Ending on a positive note with many members of the opening acts, as well as a gospel choir, signing praises of love and unity. Photography by Meg O'Neill ( @Letgomymego ).

8/31/2017- Joe Russo's Almost Dead @ Red Rocks Amphitheater- Morrison, CO

Joe Russo's Almost Dead ft. Oteil Burbridge (warning: opinion being inserted) is the best version of any Grateful Dead project. Period. The energy Joe can create from behind the kit is truly unmatched. The band was firing on all cylinders last night as they made up for a "snowed out" which was supposed to take place earlier this year. Another great summer night on the rocks.

08/29/2017 - Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats @ Red Rocks Amphitheatre - Morrison, CO

Local legend Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats sold out two nights in a row at Red Rocks.  On night two The Budos Band filled in for Charles Bradley, who was sick, to open for them both nights.  Nathaniel Rateliff always puts on an amazing show but makes sure to have it be extra special whenever he is back home and this year gave the fans some new songs as a teaser for the next album. Colorado natives Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats have been touring non-stop since 2015 after the release of their debut self-titled album. Three years later and they've found themselves headlining two back-to-back nights at their home states most legendary venue. Complete with an 11 member band and some serious production, Nathaniel Rateliff is ready to show Colorado who's boss.

8/24-8/26/2017 - High Plains Comedy Festival 2017 @ South Broadway and Paramount Theatre - Denver, CO

From local comedians to big names in Hollywood, the fifth annual festival had it all and then some with audience members’ laughs ranging from deep chuckles to hearty guffaws. There were definite “what-the-fuck-did-I-just-watch” moments to “I-can’t-believe-he-just-got-away-with-that-joke” gasps, but all in all, the Mile High City proved to be 100 percent accepting of the wild, the absurd and the hilarious.

08/26/2017 - The Lumineer's Night Two with Andrew Bird @ Fiddler's Green - Englewood, CO

The Lumineer's were overwhelmed by the Colorado love the fans showed Saturday night. Despite filling up their biggest venue to date, the intimacy of the show was strongly felt. The quirky musical genius of Andrew Bird opened the night, showing his array of talent in ways such as playing his violin like a ukulele. Afterwords, the simple stage was transformed by giant chandeliers and projection screens displaying a gorgeous backdrop for the beautiful songs from The Lumineer's. At one point in the show the group disappeared from the main stage, only to reappear moment's later on a smaller stage at the way back by the lawn seats. The Lumineer's definitely showed their loved back to  the whole crowd that night. Photography by Meg O'Neill ( @letgomymego ).

08/25/2017 - Depeche Mode @ Pepsi Center - Denver, CO

California all girl band Warpaint may have been the opener but they wowed the crowd that filled the Pepsi Center to see Depeche Mode.  Depeche Mode is an English band who was formed in 1980 so they know how to work a crowd and tonight wasn't anything different.  Front man Dave Gahan was working the stage and making sure the crowd knew that he can still work that booty.  Photos by Candace Peterson

8/22/17 - Khalid @ The Fillmore - Denver, CO

Topping charts and riding the wave of his debut album "American Teen", Khalid is becoming an R&B/pop force to be reckoned with. Complete with live musicians, cheerleaders and fans screaming every word, it's safe to say Khalid knows how to put on a proper show despite this being his first time on the road. With a two-night double venue stop in Denver fans didn't have to worry about missing out on this one.   All photography by Alden Bonecutter @alden.co

8/19/17 - Gov't Mule and Yonder Mountain String Band with Marcus King Band @ Red Rocks Amphitheater - Denver, CO

Gov't Mule and Yonder Mountain String Band teamed up for a night of soulful strings and bluesy bust outs with the help of 21-year old Marcus King of the Marcus King Band. Rarely do I make in into Red Rocks by 5:30 to see the first opener on the bill, but if you know anything about Marcus King you were inside waiting patiently for the phenom to start the show. Haynes joined Yonder Mountain String Band for part of their set, pausing on traditional bluegrass to play some bluesy tracks. The full band of Gov't Mule busted out some ABB covers on their own, bringing Marcus King back on for a fiery "Whipping Post".

8/16/17 - Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue @ Red Rocks - Morrison, CO

For the first time this year, Red Rocks was brought down south for some classic, brass-heavy New Orleans music. Legendary band leader Trombone Shorty & his band, openers Jamestown Revival & The Record Company gave everyone in the crowd something to get down to. All photography by Alden Bonecutter @alden.co

08/15/17 - Young the Giant with Cold War Kids and Joywave - Morrison, CO

Young the Giant left a musical footprint (larger than Andre and Hagrid combined) in Colorado's famous Red Rocks Amphitheater. The band crushed their headlining set bringing an insane amount of energy with (in my opinion) an acknowledgement of what is going on in our current "Amerika", a hit from their most recent album ironically titled "Home of the Strange". Cold War Kids were a big part of my "musical discovery" and really turned up heat as the second band on the bill. Joywave sent just that through the crowd while the sun was still shining over the Denver skyline.

08/12/2017 - Pretty Lights Night 2 @ Red Rocks - Morrison, CO

Pretty Lights played another mind blowing show at Red Rock's this past weekend. Opening for PL on night two was G. Jones and Daily Bread bringing the good vibes. However, Pretty Light's along with his killer band mates and production team really shown that night. While the crowd danced, it was as though their bodies were looking for the notes as Pretty Lights played they. Not to mention the feeling of being completely entranced in the laser show by LazerShark! The Colorado love shown bright that night, as a red half moon rose over the Red Rocks stage and fans danced the night away. Photographs by Meg O'Neill ( @letgomymego ).

08/11/2017 - Triple A Conference Night Three @ Fox Theater - Boulder, CO

Portugal. The Man brought the trippy psychedelic vibes to the last night of the Triple A Conference in Boulder this past weekend. But before they even hit the stage, my mind was blown away by the range of talent that opened at both the Fox Theater and at a stage set up at the bottom of the Hill. The small outdoor stage introduced Boulder to the nostalgic folk sounds of Marlon Williams and the rocking jams of Colony House. Meanwhile over at the Fox, The Shelters kicked the 80's greaser vibes into high gear, followed by LP's insane tonal range somewhat reminiscent of Stevie Nicks. Every performance had it's own unique twist, leaving everyone in the audience feeling satisfied. Photographs by Meg O'Neill ( @letgomymego ).

8/11- 8/13/2017 - Velorama Music Festival @ RiNo Art District - Denver, CO

Le Freak (Freak Out) was particularly funky and had the crowd feeling the groove. EWF started the show with powerful imagery on stage just before the full band emerged. The brains behind the vision. Wether you vibe to it or not, he's still a pioneer in the scene. Freestyle Sessions at the 1stBank Center brought me back to the early days of first getting into electronic music. It was three nights of emotion, chaos, harmony and love combined. After being sidelined from both Red Rocks and Dick's Sporting Good Park the last couple of years, the 1stBank Center brought back that underground vibe that electronic music has missed for a while. This was more about the music and not the big charade that goes on at festivals and so forth. Here is a recap of Sunday night through my lens. Very few actually completed these insanely-difficult lead routes. As for the Speed division: these super-human athletes scampered up the wall faster than a human ought to be able to. It was unnatural and awesome to watch. Photography by Austin Cope (@austinjcope)

There is nothing dreamier than an Australian. NOPE, there is nothing dreamier than an Australian Musical Duo such as Boo Seeka. The hip-hop-psych-soul/dream-tronica group returned to Denver playing at Lost Lakes last night. The duo was quite impressed by their Denver fan base knowing most of the words to all their songs. And if you’ve ever heard them you know exactly why. Because beyond their dreamy-ness these two have true talent in both raspy vocals and kickass drumps. Photography by Meg O’Neill (@Letgomymego).

Joey Dosik “wowed” the crowd with his smooth tonal range, setting the stage for what was sure to be a night full of talent. Once Lake Street Dive went on there was no mistaking it was bound to be a roaring night with vocals by the mesmerizing lead singer Rachael Price. Low-temp dance music duo Hippie Sabotage played a surprisingly rowdy show for a sold out crowd on a Wednesday night. Brothers Kevin and Jeff have been rising in the dance music scene ever since their massive breakthrough with the remix of Tove Lo's "Habits (Stay High)". Since then they have continued touring, releasing their signature Sacramento stoner vibes, and getting rowdy at shows. The night was full of head banging, crowdsurfing, fans on stage, and plenty instances of Kevin running about the venue and through the crowd. All Photography by Alden Bonecutter. @alden.co

A sold out, capacity crowd at the Fillmore Auditorium was serenaded and rocked on Valentines Day. The evening began with a solo acoustic tribute by Sting where he reminisced about his first show in Denver (in 1972) before introducing the crowd to his son Joe Sumner. An almost perfect clone of his dad in both looks and talent Joe had the crowd feeling his unique energy. Agua Caliente brought a festive vibe from south of the border that got everyone dancing. Sting arrived on stage to an explosion of cheers from the crowd that set the tone for his entire set. Accompanied on stage with his band were special backup vocals by the members of Aqua Caliente and his son Joe which made the whole show feel like one connected act playing out to a grand finale. Less Than Jake melted the faces off the crowd with classics from their early albums that drew up feeling of nostalgia in many. This past weekend was the 21st year for the 2017 Winter X Games, and like most 21st birthdays the X Games turned up the volume and took the party to the next level. Because not only did the X Games fly out international superstars to headline their concerts, they brought together the best athletes to compete in bigger and badder events. From the debut of a new sport, SnowBike Cross, to the very first domestic competition of Women’s Ski Big Air, capacity crowds gathered from near and far to watch athletes do the impossible. Plus this year there were crazy winter storms the week before the X Games. Dumping three feet of fresh snow in Aspen, it set the stage for an amazing competition week. Photography by Brent Andeck.

The next punk rock revolution has begun! Will Varley from London started the night at the Fillmore with an acoustic set that left us all laughing. Arkells from Canada brought the energy level up ten notches with their new age punk rock sound and a message of unity. Tiger Army, the rock-a-billy band from California set the stage for the headliner with their vintage Johnny Cash goes Punk ensemble. Finally Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls brought the Positive Songs for Negative People we all needed to hear in our current tumultuous political climate, at one point splitting the crowd in half and creating a wall of hugs. This show will definitely be one those in attendance will be talking about for a long time.

So when Reel Big Fish calls you and asks if you still remember how to play that 1 ska song of yours and if you want to go on tour with them you say... YES!" Chris Number2. A mix of anarchist punk and bouncing ska this show was a blast of nostalgia for the old school Punks of Denver. Direct Hit and Ballyhoo set the stage and the mood for the show. Anti-Flag kicked it into high gear with "Die For Your Government" and ending their set by playing in the heart of the mosh pit. Reel Big Fish followed it up with their usual comedic/ devil may care style. It was a punk show for those true punks. Photos by: Kenneth Coles

March is filled with many reasons for celebration (and drinking). Although St. Patrick’s Day and spring break remain top priorities, March Madness never falters as the month’s lead event. College basketball is rarely a first concern, but many choose to visit their favorite sports bar, dress in the colors of their alma mater and cheer on the team of a past, simpler life.

Whether you’re into rowdy or intimate scenes, or all you care about is the number of screens, Denver has many sports bars geared to host all. Here are our picks (in no particular order) that are made for your March Madness watch party.
