Aural Pleasure: Lukos (& Yoga) @ DAM

Tonight, April 30, Gabe Ratliff AKA Lukos will soundtrack a yoga class at The Denver Art Museum. Satori-C will be on hand to tag team. Given that “satori” is a Japanese Buddhist term for “enlightenment”, it seems fitting. And marrying an ancient discipline like yoga with a modern musical genre like electronica seems appropriate for such a cutting-edge art museum.

Festival Window: Winter Music Conference

Winter Music Conference may seem like a misnomer to many, due to its Sunshine State stomping grounds, but Colorado Conference goers were nearly cock blocked by Old Man Winter for the second year in a row. Denver was blanketed in a solid foot of snow when I left; Miami's umpteenth annual mixologist mixer was on fire when I arrived. Beat dieters from around the world rendezvoused en masse for seven days in heaven. Superstar DJs were in abundant supply. Supermodels came out of the woodwork. And dancefloors were demolished left and right.

Sintertainment: Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity

Losing my shirt in a Vegas casino has never appealed to me. Witnessing acrobats and aerialists lose their shirts in a Cirque du Soleil production is a completely different animal. Zumanity, the only Cirque show with actual nudity, has been on my to-do list for years. Even before I collaborated with a former cast member on a performance for Denver's Suite 200, it was on my radar. I finally lost my Zumanity virginity Sunday night.
