The snow gods have answered your prayers, because ski season is officially here. This morning at 9:19 a.m., Arapahoe Basin announced that it will open for its 2016-2017 season on October 21. The news came via Arapahoe Basin’s blog, “Al’s Blog,” written by their chief operating officer Alan Henceroth. In his post, Henceroth explained that after a “cold and snowy night… Mother Nature delivered four-five inches of natural snow at mid-mountain,” and that after a walk around High Noon, they decided that it is time to open the resort. Here is the post in full:

“We just had a cold and snowy night. Right now the snow-making system is still cranking at near capacity. Mother nature delivered four-five inches of natural snow at mid-mountain. The forecast for tonight is mostly clear with temperatures in the teens, perfect for snow-making. The reservoir is still almost full. Scotty is back in his cat dozing out the piles. Bill and I just walked High Noon. It is time. “

Passes for Arapahoe Basin are still for sale on their website with season passes going for just $319. Last year the resort opened on October 29.
