It’s no secret, Coloradans love to wear as many state flags, Manning jerseys, and mountain-themed apparel items as possible. 303 Day, an unofficial state holiday to celebrate all the things we love about this state of ours, is the perfect day to bust out all of our favorite Colorado gear. We have partnered with Channel 93.3 and Illegal Pete’s to make sure you get the most out of this holiday by giving out free chips and queso or a cup of Pablo’s coffee to everyone who shows up at Illegal Pete’s on March 3 wearing Colorado gear. Channel 93.3 will be airing live from the University of Denver location with great music, food, comedians and more whereas 303 Magazine will post up at the South Broadway location. For the full lineup of performers, go here.

This 303 Day, we are looking beyond the standard Colorado wear to find the top locally-sourced clothing items to best show our state pride. Here, we have a list of 10 of our favorite pieces to help you show your die-hard love for Colorado with as much style as possible:

  1. It’s a shame you don’t give the artists credit. Corey Doney created the Sopapillas Only shirt. It’s rad and he deserves the shout out.

  2. The “Stay Out of Denver” hoody is offensive at best. An attempt at being clever? I’m from CO. I was in South Central recording, and as I finished telling everyone in the studio how great Denver is and how Denver is really coming into “it’s own” culturally, this hoody came up on my Facebook feed… Not a good situation to say the least. I felt very ashamed. One of the producers told me it felt like rich white kids with ski’s saying, “Whites only! Black people not welcome.” Denver finally has a real opportunity to become a substantial cultural hub. Unfortunately this kind of, “Stay out of Denver,” and, “Denver against the world,” rhetoric makes us look like intellectual back water hillbillies. I’m sure that the designers weren’t overtly trying to be racist but this not a good look. We are extremely lucky and privileged to be from a place like CO, and we should be excited about the influx of people from other places AND the diversity and creativity that will bring. First off, designers step up your game… None of these designs would compete in the nation market. Secondly, think about the message you’re sending. CO is dope. These designs are not good enough.

      1. Thanks for the reply. I thought you wouldn’t post or reply. Disregard my second post. I love CO and I hope we can start being a force to be reckoned with in terms of art and culture. #BornAMileHigh 🙂

    1. Interesting take. Denver/Colorado is not the only city to use these type of designs. California does it. Austin does it like no other. My subjective opinion is that it’s humorous and more power to the people that want to sport this. Stating “None of these designs would compete in the nation market” is a pretty subjective statement in itself. The “Sopapillas Only” shirt is not only clever, but well designed. Even if you are a designer/artist, it is simply your opinion. Which you are fully entitled to, but it’s a pretty broad blanket statement. I love that these are local Denver folks showing their pride in their own way

      1. The Sopapillas tee is cleverish… but it’s not crack. The design is college project at best. I would go way bigger on the graphic. And you have to admit they mailed it in on the fonts. Both fonts are super run of the mill, but again the “stay out” vibe is my main concern which really only applies to the, “stay out of Denver,” hoodie and the “Colorado against the world,” cap. Hopefully all these designers keep coming out with better and better stuff. But I have to say If it’s not as good or better than Akomplice step it up. California has many really doing it Primitive, The Hundreds, HUF the list goes on.. CO should have more dope bands than just Akomplice.. and this is the time to get it! Let’s go. And yo “Coltrane??” you don’t need to tell people that they are entitled to their opinion they know.

        1. I’d love to see some of your stuff “Zebulon”. For as critical as you are of every design. I’m very well aware of what you take issue with. You made that abundantly clear. You don’t have to tell me again.

    1. Please disregard this post. Thank you 303 for the posting and replay to my original comment.
