Fashion and film are always working hand in hand, and this is displayed at yearly award shows like the Oscars. Your wardrobe is part of who you are, and it can also be a major part in playing a role in a film.
Champagne, nude and jeweled gowns are the dress of choice for the Oscars. All-over black gowns with countless details were also prevalent. Here is a quick look at some of the Best Dressed actors and actresses from the 2014 Oscars.
Best Dressed
After such an important month for fashion (February), it’s only expected and anticipated that we would see some of those major trends popping up at the Oscars. Kate Hudson was one of many who illustrated those in her draw-dropping, silver metallic, plunging neckline Versace gown. A little metallic can go a long way, but all over metallic can leave you speechless.
Charlize Theron represented one of those main trends as well in her detailed-filled, stunning, all-over black Christian Dior gown.
Cate Blanchett stole the show of all nude, champagne gowns, and how appropriate since she won Best Actress for her amazing role in Blue Jasmine. Her beautiful fair skin looked flawless in her Giorgio Armani gown that was an absolute piece of art.
Along side Matthew McConaughey, who won Best Actor and also gave a gracious acceptance speech, was Camilla Alves who looked absolutely exquisite in her pale pink sophisticated dress made by Gabriela Cadena. Sorry Matthew, our eyes were on Camilla last night. The cape, the shape, and the color were not just feminine, but timeless and elegant
Dior is also responsible for Jennifer Lawrence’s simple and flattering red strapless dress. She may not have won Best Supporting Actress for her role in American Hustle, but she still looked stunning.
Jared Leto won the category for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, and he owned the stage in his seamless white Saint Laurent tux with a pop of red for his bowtie. That man also gives a mad acceptance speech.
Who doesn’t love Anna Kendrick, our girl next door? Especially when she looks so true to herself in this simple, but textured all black gown made by J. Mendel. She followed suit and on-trend with Charlize Theron on that one.
Congratulations, Lupita Nyong’o. Not just for winning Best Supporting Actress for your talent represented in 12 Years Slave, but for also looking incredibly elegant while doing so in your pastel blue, floor-length Prada gown. Stunning.
And last, but certainly not least, Sandra Bullock looked effortlessly chic in your Alexander McQueen navy gown. The dress and your loose curls pushed to one side pulled off the ‘50s flare you were going for perfectly.
