Don’t drag your feet at the chance to snag some seriously awesome freebies in one of Denver’s trendiest neighborhoods – LoHi (the lower highlands). Saturday August 11, 2012 from 9am – 1pm Highland United Neighbors Inc. (HUNI), will celebrate National Farmer’s Market Week with a free concert from local Bluegrass headliner Trout Steak Revival (TSR), opened by singer/songwriter Elyse Miller. Headliner TSR boasts a five member band whose midwest tour and self-produced album–recorded in a cabin in the Colorado foothills–put them on the map. Past performances at the historic Telluride Bluegrass Festival have only enhanced TSR’s local following. Enjoy an eclectic blend of banjo, guitar, bass, fiddle, mandolin and so much more in TSR’s down-home mountain museings. Mountain Gazzette raves “Bluegrass, hippiegrass, newgrass, whatever. TSR calls the songs it plays ‘Bluegrass-inspired mountain music.’ I call it music that makes me want to drive around Colorado with the windows down.” Highland Farmers Market sponsor, Chipotle, will hand out free $10 tokens to the first 250 visitors to spend at the Market. Sample amazing local treats from organic wildflower honey to kettlecorn, gourmet cheeses, and fresh produce, all while taking in some good tunes and brews. Did I mention they will be serving free local craft beer at the festival? Who says nothing in life is free?
