I visited my native (and beloved) Denver this week. Every time I return, I notice how the culture is evolving – from speak easy bars to provocative art exhibits. And, although the fashion scene continues to burgeon, it’s Colorado’s indigenous cultural fashion that often inspires me.
One trend rooted in the wild wild west that has spread from coast to coast is the denim shirt. Men and women are equally embracing the cowboy-coined fashion staple. While many styles have western elements like pointed pockets and snap buttons, variations of the versatile piece abound. From dark denim to acid wash and form fitting to long and loose, the jean top is summer’s effortless must-have. Weather paired with a soft maxi skirt, worn open over a mini dress or tucked into colored jeans, denim button-downs dominate. And, although denim mixed with denim can be challenging to pull off, using a belt to break up the different washes can make the perfect “blue jean baby” look.
The denim shirt is a trend worth “wrangling” in.
