10 Reasons To Love Colorado

The holiday season makes 303 Magazine sentimental for our home state. In Colorado, there is so much to love. We’ve thought of 10 Reasons To Love Colorado (even more than you already do). From the bros to the hipsters, the nightlife, the fitfam, to the stunning weather and clouds during sunset. Here are 10 Reasons To Love Colorado!

1. City Versus Nature

Colorado is constantly balancing the love for city with love for the outdoors. We incorporate the two better than any place in the nation. Snowboarding and skiing during the day, hiking and Red Rocks workout sessions in the Summer, followed by going out and hitting the amazing Denver nightlife in the evening. Hiking then LoDo, biking then a Broncos game. Who does that? It is a gift to have the Queen City of the plains so close to the beautiful outdoors.

2. Broncos Games

Best in the West. Nothing warms my heart more during than seeing my Denver Broncos murder some teams. Peyton Manning is the new Elway, and if you were born a Colorado kid, Elway is a God. This stunning homegame sunset meets touchdown is all the proof you need.

3. Wonderful Weather

We are lucky to live in such a temperate place, even with the worst blizzard, the sun is never far behind. High altitude means weather changes quicker than in most parts of the country. It’s extremely dry, and this lack of humidity makes the heat less sticky and the cold less bone chilling. This photo was taken on December 12th, 2014, a sunny 65 degrees.

4. Bros Versus Hipsters

Much like our inner battle of city versus nature, Denver is always straddling the line between the mainstream and the subculture, hipsters versus bros. We have killer, homegrown coffee shops next to packed bars and sporting events. Luckily, you don’t have to choose.

5. #Cloudporn

Some say it’s the smog and pollution held in by the mountains, others say it’s because God is a Broncos fan, but anyone can see that Colorado boasts some seriously glorious sunrises and sunsets each day. The stunning orange, blue, pink, purple, cotton candy clouds are in no shortage here. They can take your breathe away on the regs. Make sure to watch a sunrise or sunset at least once a day.

6. Nightlife

Hey, did you know Denver has some of the most fun clubs, bars, and venues you will ever find? If you like to dress up and dance the night away, enjoy Vie. If you want to relax in an amazing dive bar, venue, back patio go to Meadowlark. If you want to get real weird with it, go to MILK on Saturday for Goth Night.

7. Fitfam

The people in Colorado are hot. Don’t believe me? Ask this poll from Men’s Health, deeming Denver the 7th fittest state in the country for overall health. It’s because there is so much to do, whether it be riding your bike around in the summer, to hitting slopes in the winter. Yogis, hunks, fitfams, swolemates—you name it, we got it.

8. Commerce

(Insert weed reference here). In all honesty, Colorado has a booming tourist industry for much more than just cannabis legalization in this year. Rocky Mountain National Park sees over 3.5 million visitors each year. We have more micro-breweries per capita than any state, meaning the beer is just as important as any reason. See our gallery from the Cannabis Business Awards in Denver here.

It’s not a bad thing to be gaining in popularity. People are moving to Denver as fast as they can, and with great demand comes great responsibility. We owe it to those who just found out the beauty of this place to rep it well. If you wish you were a Colorado native, don’t worry, there is plenty of the love to go around. And if you are a Colorado native, no one can take that away from you.

10. Style
