Fashion Fridays – Prabal Welcomed To The Crew

There hasn’t been a pairing this good since cookies and milk. Prabal Gurung, who rose to quick fame after Michelle Obama appeared in his ladylike creations repeatedly, has designed a six piece capsule collection for uber preppy J. Crew. The collaboration is part of Gurung’s prize for being named a 2010 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund runner-up.

The playful designs feature oversized bows, elegant trim, and to-a-t tailoring. Prices range from $198 for a pair of sleek trousers to $395 for a fun frock and $400 for an architectural jacket.

In commenting on the collection, Gurung says “I played with volume and scale and focused on a few special pieces with a story to tell – it’s very modern, chic and put together, but there’s also a lived-in quality. There’s a subtext and sub-layers to the designs we chose for J. Crew.”

The pieces are available at select stores and online. Quantities are limited (there are only 50 of some styles!), so grab yours before they’re going going Gurung…
