Fashion Fridays – Let The (Fashion Week) Games Begin

Although Spring 2011 New York Fashion Week officially kicked off on Thursday, it was Wednesday night at Lincoln Center that had editors, buyers and fashionistas going gaga for fall.

“Fashion’s Night Out: The Show” was designed to introduce this Friday night’s second annual Fashion’s Night Out, an initiative started last year by Anna Wintour and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Top models including Giesel, Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova and Adriana Lima kicked off the show and danced around the fountain of Lincoln Center Plaza to Lady Gaga’s “Telephone”, wearing Fashion’s Night Out tee-shirts paired with a designer skirts.

The 171-look spectacle included clusters of themed looks, from 50’s to plaid to flapper to rocker and featured Fall 2010 looks by designers such as John Galliano, Louis Vuitton, Oscar de la Renta, Prada, and Carolina Herrera, all of which will be available to shop for Fashion’s Night Out.

Anna Wintour (the pioneer of Fashion’s Night Out),  Diane Von Furstenberg and Ashley Tisdale, along with Blake Lively (one of the evening’s hosts) were all in attendance for the fashion festivities.

Although the show was geared to get consumers excited to shop and stimulate the economy, the clothes were only for those fashion-fiends that have more money than style.
