Start your weekend off with food and laughs at Coming to America and end it by listening to some sweet jams at a free concert. Coming to America

The Lowdown: Fox Street Compound and Cinema team up to present a viewing of Coming to America. You can watch the adventurous film, listen to live music and more. You can also delight in food trucks and a full bar while enjoying the film. Make sure to bring your own chairs to sit in.

Tropical Bash

The Lowdown: The Moxy hosts a Tropical Bash. The bash features a night at the Cherry Creek Beer Garden with a tropical vibe. You can sip on tropical cocktails like a pineapple cooler and dance to music from DJ DSRE.

Weirdo

The Lowdown: Gladys: The Nosy Neighbor is back with Weirdo. The event features a drag battle where performers will compete against each other for a $150 cash prize. You can watch unconventional performers from all walks of life and sip on Stoli drinks while listening to sick beats from DJT.

Milk Market Opening

The Lowdown: Celebrate the beginning of summer at the Milk Market Opening. The open spans throughout the weekend and presents a photo booth, happy hours, yoga and more. On Saturday the first 100 people in line at Cornicello will receive a mini milkshake and on Sunday you can brunch it out while listening to live music.

Lowbrow’s Birthday

The Lowdown: Lowbrow Denver will celebrate its birthday on Friday. The event features a sixth annual toy show with Kidrobot sponsoring the shenanigans. You can snag some specially created figurines for purchase, get some Wizard of Barge swag and more. You can also sip on complimentary Deep Eddy vodka cocktails, crack open a piñata and get your Kidrobot piece customized from tons of artists including DINKC Studios, Gamma Gallery, Hollowbones and more.

People’s Fair

The Lowdown: The People’s Fair is back for the 47th year in a row. The historic fair features a block party of art and music. You can listen to live music, shop at a marketplace, dive into some local food trucks and more.

Mega-Cookout

The Lowdown: Guerrilla Gravity presents a Mega-Cookout. You can dig into food, beer, live music from Modus Audio and more. You can also participate in bike games and purchase a giveaway ticket to support Colorado Mountain Bike Association (COMBA). The ticket also enters you for the chance to win a Guerrilla Gravity frame, jerseys and more.

First Friday Art Walk

The Lowdown: The first Friday of every month marks the First Friday Art Walk. You can venture down the Art District on Santa Fe to experience all of the amazing galleries and creative businesses. The walk features 30 participating locations on Santa Fe and a ton of food trucks to fuel your art adventures. You can see sculptures, prints and more at the participating businesses.

Cervezas for Causes

The Lowdown: Each week, Cervecería Colorado hosts Cervezas for Causes. The happy hour features a partnership with a local non-profit. This Friday, Cervecería Colorado teams up with Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC). You can sip on some lovingly brewed beer and raise funds for CIRC.

Mirus Gallery Grand Opening II

The Lowdown: Mirus Gallery Denver presents their second grand opening, since the first was a total hit. Lit Fest Kickoff

The Lowdown: Lighthouse Writers Workshop hosts a Lit Fest Kickoff. The kickoff features a reading of “Bad Stories: What The Hell Just Happened to Our Country” from author Steve Almond, a Q&A with Andrea Dupree — the Lighthouse program director — and more. Saturday, June 2

Colorado Culinary Challenge

The Lowdown: Le Méridien Denver presents a Colorado Culinary Challenge. The challenge features five of Denver’s top chefs and cocktail experts including Chef Nikki Baldacci from Coohills Restaurant, Chef Max Mackissock from Bar Dough, Chef Tobias Burkhalter from Corinne Restaurant and 54thirty and Chef Justin Brunson from Old Major. The chefs will create an amazing four-course dinner with a drink pairing. The profits from the dinner benefit the James Beard Foundation.

First Caturday

The Lowdown: First Caturday is back. You can let your feline socialize with other kitties and get some fresh air at the cat-tastic event. You can even walk your cat on a leash to explore the park in a safe manner. However, if your cat is not trained on a leash, in a carrier or with a stroller and not comfortable with being outdoors, keep them happy at home.

Denver Chalk Art Festival

The Lowdown: Watch as artists create amazing works of art all from chalk at the Denver Chalk Art Festival. The two-day festival features chalk creations on the sidewalks and streets of Larimer Square. It’s one of the few art festivals where you can witness artists creating pieces before your very eyes.

Truck Stop

The Lowdown: Truck Stop is back. The food truck rally features local food trucks, vendors and more in a five-block block-party. This month the Truck Stop lands in Five Points and you can taste all of the amazing bites, dance to live music and imbibe on craft beverages.

Doin’ It After Dark

The Lowdown: Our Mutual Friend Brewery teams up with TRVE Brewing for a Bottle Release. The release features Esprit De Corpse — a mix of different culture ales aged from oak barrels, stainless steel and oak foeders. The beer has a stone fruit and pineapple touch with light acidity. You can buy 500ml bottles for $12.

4th Anniversary Party
