Mexico City’s acoustic rock guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela will be showering us with their fiery and rhythmic tunes at Red Rocks this Sunday, August 17, with special guest Nathaniel RateliffRodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero started off their musical relationship as young metal heads in Mexico before traversing across the pond and playing in the streets of Dublin. Needless to say, they’ve come a long way from those days and have been making music together for about fifteen years, traveling from European music festivals to dive bars in Cuba, and now to our very own backyard. Tickets are still on sale for about $40-60.

Their first studio album since 2009, 9 Dead Alive was released this past April and is packed with summertime warmth and intimate energy. The album captures the invention and intuition of the duo, who feed off of each other’s every move with grace and natural spontaneity.

In regard to 9 Dead Alive, Gabriela says, “My idea was to record it as if we were to playing a live gig in your living room.”

Don’t miss RodGab rock Red Rocks to close out the weekend (congrats if you made it to Beck, Trampled by Turtles, and Rodrigo y Gabriela… the ol’ Red Rocks hat trick!) with their signature and explosive guitar-versus-guitar pick-off.
