Next Saturday beginning at sundown Denver and Jews all over the world will begin to celebrate Purim, a holiday marking the escape of the Jews from brutal persecution at the hands of Haman, an evil Persian royal adviser. Although this might seem like a politically charged holiday due to the recent conflict between Iran and Israel over nuclear programs, Purim is one day of the year when even Netanyahu can relax (maybe). This day is filled with plenty of festive fun, including dancing, drinking, and dessert (particularly hamantaschen, a stuffed triangle shaped pastry). It also typically includes crazy costumes and plenty of debauchery. Because of this joyous occasion we here at 303 will be hosting our 5th annual PURIM Extravaganza, an 80’s themed event for Colorado’s Young Adults hosted by Miss International Israel 2012 on Saturday February 23rd.
