A trend I find to be constantly reoccurring and undeniably timeless is polka dots. While the print typically has a retro feel and makes me think of 60s housewives vacuuming their pristine homes while wearing full-skirted pink and black polka dot dresses, the trend still resonates in a contemporary world.
I think it is almost a staple in every designers’ collection these days, whether the dots stamp a colorful dress or structured jacket or classic handbag. Many designer like Marc by Marc Jacobs, Peter Som and Derek Lam made the polka print more playful by mixing them with other prints in their Spring 2010 collections. This super modern style makes the dot trend a definite do.
