Rockies Opening Day and 33 Things to do in Denver this Week

Denver has some artsy events lined up this week. You can start it off with a screening of The Pink Panther and end it by getting mindful during the Slow Art Day. Whatever you end up doing, make sure to take a look at this roundup of events in Denver.

Monday, April 1

The Pink Panther

The Lowdown: Alamo Drafthouse Denver hosts a screening of The Pink Panther. The 1963 film features a hilarious story about French police inspector Jacques Clouseau who is on the hunt for the missing pink panther diamond. You can laugh all night long at funny quips and see if the mystery will be solved.

Plant Nite

The Lowdown: Improper City teams up with Yaymaker to host a Plant Nite. The event features a chance to plant a tabletop succulent garden. Guides will lead you through a step-by-step class to build a mini zen garden with a little rose quartz to match.

Best of Denver Fashion Week Exhibit

The Lowdown: Denver Fashion Week teams up with 303 Magazine and McNichols Building to present the Best of Denver Fashion Week exhibit. The exhibit features some of the best looks that have graced the runways of Denver Fashion Week in one room. You can take a final up-close look at different designs, photos printed on fabric and more as the exhibition ends this Sunday. This event is supported by the Cultural Partner Program at the McNichols Civic Center Building and is part of the McNichols Project Series.

Tuesday, April 2

Artistic Activation

The Lowdown: Invisible City presents Artistic Activation. The event features an evening to get your creative juices flowing with performances from Rainbow Militia aerial dancers, live music from Nicholas Caputo, small bites created by Edwin Sandoval and more. You can bring your own libations to enjoy while you experience the entertainment.

Paper Fashion Show Meetup

The Lowdown: Ratio Beerworks hosts a Paper Fashion Show Meetup. The event features a chance to meet Paper Fashion Show judges, models, design teams and more over a happy hour. You can sip on Ratio brew and munch on bites from Pizza Bread and Refreshment food truck. you can win tickets to the Paper Fashion Show during a raffle so make sure to arrive early.

Don Quixote

The Lowdown: Landmark’s Chez Artiste Theatre presents a screening of the Royal Opera House ballet, Don Quixote. The performance features the story of the knight Don Quixote on his journies as he acts out different deeds to honor the Lady Dulcinea. The production, choreographed by Carlos Acosta, brings forth a message of love, passion and charm.

Aggregate Immateriality

The Lowdown: Control Group Productions presents Aggregate Immateriality. The event features an immersive experience in an abandoned slaughterhouse in North Denver’s Globeville neighborhood. The experience will take you through fear, death and darkness with performances of dance, design and theatre as Control Group’s largest production yet.

Arts Education For All Forum

The Lowdown: McNichols Civic Center Building hosts an Arts Education For All Forum. The event features a night to discuss the impact of arts education in Colorado and how to improve the programs. SCFD Community Free Night

Dorrance Dance ETM: Double Down

The Lowdown: Newman Center for the Performing Arts presents Dorrance Dance ETM: Double Down. The event features a performance from eight dancers and six musicians that has been choreographed and created to make a harmonious fusion of movement and sound. The artists will use acoustic and digital instruments to collaborate and explore new sounds and rhythms.

RN/CO Launch Party

My Neighbor Totoro

The Lowdown: Do you love cacti and succulents? If you do, you need to check out the 46th Annual Cactus & Succulent Show. The Colorado Cactus & Succulent Society join together with The Summit Event Center to present a plant show like no other. You can find some amazing plants, learn from local growers and more.

The Lowdown: Make a statement and participate in an Open NOH8 Photo Shoot. You can have your picture taken as part of the NOH8 campaign by Adam Bouska and show your support. Make sure to wear a white shirt and arrive early as the event is first come, first serve. NOH8 is an organization that fights for equality.

The Lowdown: ATC DEN hosts Altered States of Beauty. The event features an exhibition created by Denver-based artist Silvana Vukadin Hoitt as she faced the realities of breast cancer. Slow Art Day

The Lowdown: Denver Art Museum presents a Slow Art Day. The event features a day to slow down and take in the art in a more mindful manner. You can take part in meditation in the galleries at 10:30 a.m. or practice mindful looking by studying one piece of art for 45-minutes and try a take-home piece. The Slow Art challenge is included in general admission.
