After all of the toasting, drinking and celebrating of your Irish roots that you have cherished your entire life, or perhaps just discovered, there is finally a way to sweat it all out and start all over again. This Sunday morning strap on your sneakers and join me downtown for Denver’s Runnin’ Of The Green. This lively event takes place every year to celebrate Irish culture and spirit with the Lucky 7k Irish Jog through downtown Denver; it’s Denver own classic Irish jig and celebration.

The Runnin’ Of The Green has been a Colorado charity event for 25 years, benefiting the Volunteers of America. This year marks their 26th annual race, and they plan to keep growing bigger, better and rowdier. The race start is tucked in the heart of Historic LoDo in front on Union Station, at 17th and Wazee.

You will be surrounded by warm welcomes and cheer, along with traditional Irish dancers, live Irish music and of course beer. With a rambunctious Irish Jig as your soundtrack to the race start you’ll weave in and out of downtown to the cheers of a happy whiskey-loving crowd; the energy is electric. Costumes are not a requirement but are always encouraged. Participants come decked out in their best green digs each year, striving to top last year’s ensemble; you will be engulfed into a sea of green runners and walkers.

This is a family friendly event, so be sure to bring everyone you know and your best drinking buddies. The Leprechaun Leap is a special 2 miles race created just for the wee Irishmen in your family. Once you have finished the race be sure to stay to the end because this event is known for its post race party.
