As the summer season comes to a close, go enjoy a farm fresh dish and beautiful evening at Sonnenalp Resort Friday.

Tomorrow evening, Sonnenalp Resort of Vail will combine casual elegance and farm fresh dishes to make a wonderful summer night.

Sonnenalp’s “Gather in the Garden” dinner is a white linen garden party complete with a three-course meal, creek side views and sparkling wine pairings from Vinture wines.

“August is the best time of year to enjoy the outdoors and all Vail has to offer,” says Johannes Faessler, owner of the Sonnenalp. “Our creek side setting along with fresh ingredients from our garden makes this dinner a special treat.”

The menu and wine pairing is as follows: roasted crimini mushrooms filled with tomato confit and mini crab cakes with vanilla mango salsa paired with 2009 Alsatian Blend, Brooks “Amycas” Oregon; yellow beet cured king salmon with mustard green salad and tarragon dressing paired with 2011 Pinot Noir, Grochau Cellars “Commuter” Oregon; cedar plank roasted wild king salmon with fingerling potato, Colorado corn hash, wilted Swiss chard and cilantro vinaigrette paired with 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, Gramercy Cellars Columbia Valley. Finally, for dessert, chocolate cherry ice cream cake with vanilla whipped cream paired with 2009 Late Harvest Muller-Thurgau, Anne Amie Willamette Valley, Oregon.

“Gather in the Garden” is from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. this Friday, with a fixed price of $36 per person and $56 per person with the wine pairing. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 970-479-5429.
