Fashion Fridays – Memorial Day Must-Haves

Yes! It’s Memorial Day weekend! Many of you are excited to have off from work on Monday or do some extra weekend partying, but me? I’m ready to officially break out my summer wardrobe. Ok, I live in LA, so a “summer” wardrobe is not totally accurate, but I’m definitely switching the sweater shelf with the t-shirt shelf to prepare for warmer weather.

In preparation for BBQs, pool days and vacas, here are my “10 Memorial Day Must-Haves” that will take you through summer (follow the links for purchase information):

The mullet skirt: I’m all about the high-low hem this season. It’s effortless, feminine and flattering!

Feeling spendy – Funktional

Feeling cheap – Patrons of Peace

The fringe swimsuit: I’m totally into this haute hippie bathing suit look. Wear it on a yacht in the Mediterranean, poolside in Vegas or in your own backyard!

Feeling spendy – L*Space

Feeling cheap – Asos

The tribal print wedge: This is a great way to integrate color, texture and print into a simple summer ensemble. I’m wearing mine with denim shorts and a tee.

Feeling spendy – Cynthia Vincent

Feeling cheap – Steve Madden

The neon accessory: As I reported last week, neon is back in a big way. Small pops of the bold hues are best. Think pieces like belts and clutches so you can integrate the trend subtly.

Feeling spendy –  Proenza Schouler

Feeling cheap – Michael Kors

The round sunnies: Maybe not the most attractive look (read: man repeller), round-framed sunglasses are having a major moment. They are totally retro, so style accordingly (hello 70’s) and have fun with it!

Feeling spendy – The Row x Linda Farrow

Feeling cheap – Urban Outfitters

The printed fabric bag: Kind of obsessed with this trend right now. It’s so bohemian, but can feel regal, too, and can take you from day to night.

Feeling spendy – Alberta Ferretti

Feeling cheap –  Free People

The colorful bejeweled statement earring: While statement earrings can feel glamorous, they are a fun and easy way to dress up a simpler, more casual look, too.

Feeling spendy – Erickson Beamon

Feeling cheap – Kendra Scott Or make your own color combo with Kendra Scott’s Color Bar

The utilitarian-meets-feminine button-down blouse: I’ve been living in silky blouses and will continue to through summer. Whether wearing open over a dress or closed with jeans or shorts, this is a trans-seasonal staple!

Feeling spendy – Equipment

Feeling cheap –  Greylin

The midi dress: Taking things a bit vintage, the midi dress is the ultimate summer essential that can go with you everywhere  – from traveling to shopping to dinner to dancing.

Feeling spendy – Myne

Feeling cheap – Forever 21

The throwback short: You can’t go through summer without some great denim shorts. I adore the retro revival of patchwork, embroidery and eyelet trim on the daisy dukes.

Feeling spendy – Jen’s Pirate Booty

Feeling cheap – Free People
