Call Your Mother Deli
Where: Various locations
When: Hours vary
The Lowdown: This Washington D.C. bagel shop made its way to Denver in 2023 and became a staple in our culinary scene almost immediately. Obviously D.C. takes bagels seriously, so when Call Your Mother Deli opened its doors for the first time, East Coast transplants and Midwesterners alike happily waited in hour-long lines. And it did not disappoint. Since then Call Your Mother has opened 4 locations across the city to keep up with demand. It offers a wide-range of menu items from classic bacon egg + cheeses to popular bagel sandwiches like the Thunderbird, consisting of maple chicken sausage, a bodega-style egg, american + cheddar cheeses and spicy honey on a maple salt & pepper bagel. It also offers bagel latke sandwiches, if you’re into that. Call Your Mother is legit, people.
Moe’s Broadway Bagels
Where: Various locations
When: 5:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. daily
The Lowdown: Known for its New York-style bagels, Moe’s first location on Grant Street opened in 1995 and since then has expanded to 8 locations across Colorado. It offers a large menu consisting of bagels, bagel sandwiches, burritos, and deli-style sandwiches. You can play it safe with a bagel and cream cheese or you can be a bit adventurous and order the spicy buff, consisting of your choice of bagel, egg, applewood smoked bacon, jalapeño cream cheese, and avocado. Just like the rest of the Denver bagel scene, expect a hefty line, especially on weekends.
Rosenberg’s Bagels
Where: Various locations
When: Hours vary
The Lowdown: A Denver classic, Rosenberg’s focuses on New York style bagels and traditional Jewish deli staples like pastrami and latkes. The original location opened in Five Points in 2014 and expanded to spots in Stanley Marketplace and Washington Virginia Vale. Rosenberg’s sets itself apart with four words – New York City water. While not actually imported, the water is scientifically recreated to match New York City’s mineral content. The menu includes standard bagel flavors along with New York deli classics like whitefish salad, corned beef and a hefty reuben. For a more indulgent option, try the high-class bagel sandwich with house-smoked sable, caviar cream cheese, tomato and red onion. Skip the trip to Brooklyn and head to Rosenbergs – you won’t be disappointed.
Odell’s Bagel
Where: 3200 Irving St., Denver
When: Wednesday – Sunday 7:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
The Lowdown: One of the newest bagel joints in Denver, Odell’s boasts a creative menu, consisting of hand-rolled, naturally fermented bagels. Odell’s takes inspiration from Japanese food due to Chef Odell’s experience in Japanese fine dining. You can see this expressed on the menu with items like the furikake bagel and hamachi open-faced bagel sandwich. It also carries an “adult” version of one of our favorite snacks growing up – the pizza bagel. Unlike many other bagel shops, you can decide whether you want to order a half or a whole. To add to the Japanese flair, this place fully transforms into “The Counter” – consisting of a full-service Japanese tasting menu on select weekends.
