Eddie Roberts — guitarist and bandleader of The New Mastersounds — has been really busy this year. Color Red — his newest project — has just recently hit the Denver music scene with an unimaginable force. Their approach has significantly influenced the studio scene in many ways by establishing a new track release every week and by wrangling in a lot of local and national music superstars. Josh Fairman — label partner and engineer — from Sunsquabi and Dave Watts from The Motet have already recorded sessions and other artists are sure to follow suit. As their reputation for passion-fueled musicianship continues to grow, the names continue to roll in. The newest addition to the studio’s lineup is supergroup EMK, consisting of Matt McElwain, Stephen Edwards and Ted Kleist, all respective members of either Nobide or A-Mac & The Height — or both.
EMK is bringing future funk hip-hop to the local music scene with influential elements of Anderson .Paak, FKJ and Childish Gambino. They are set to release their debut single “To The Room” January 1. We here at 303 managed to get an early release for our readers to kickstart the New Year’s Eve festivities in the right way.
“To The Room” is an upbeat homage to the band’s interpretation of luxury — in this case, champagne and ladies perfume. The upbeat vocals— featuring Joey “Coco Bean” and Ian Hatch — are backed up by a funky guitar riff and tight drum pattern. Everything works in chaotic harmony resulting in a song you can’t help but dance to.

They really care about their customers. Keep up the good work pals!
