The weather is getting hot, but no worries, Denver has some great events to keep you chill. Start your weekend off by helping those in need at a Food Giveaway and end it by sweating it out at an MD5K. Whatever you end up doing, make sure to take a gander at this roundup of events in Denver.

Food Giveaway

Where: Li’l Devils, 255 S Broadway, Denver 

Cost: $5 donation here

The Lowdown: Help Feeding Denver’s Hungry hand out food to those in need at a Food Giveaway. The group will meet at Li’l Devil’s parking lot to carpool around Denver and hand out food to anyone who needs it.

The Lowdown: Nathan Hall and Drew Austin present Contact. The event features a live performance using the male body for the inspiration of drawing and those drawing for the creation of music. You can watch three nude models create a mural and the sound they make during the creation will be used to create music live. The event also features a multimedia installation from Austin and a musical performance from Hall.

Denver Screening Premiere

The Lowdown: Project DU F.I.L.M presents a Denver premiere of Scary Lucy. The film is a short comedy based on the debacle surrounding a Lucille Ball statue. Featuring stand-up comedy from comedians Christie Buchele and Janae Burris, a behind-the-scenes look at the film and a talkback from Dr. Sheila E. Schroeder from the University of Denver and the crew and cast of the film, this event will leave you educated and entertained.

LIGHT IT UP

The Lowdown: Denver Fitness Week is back with LIGHT IT UP. You can break a sweat at a silent disco cardio workout with the help of LIGHT and SoundOff Colorado. Knock off a punch on your Denver Fitness Week punch card, try out different vendors available before and after the workout and book classes in advance. Be sure to bring a mat, a water bottle to keep hydrated and a pair of tennis shoes to keep your feet moving.

Greenhouse Yoga

Where: The GrowHaus, 4751 York St., Denver 

Cost: $10 suggested donation

The Lowdown: Take a deep breath at Greenhouse Yoga. You can push through your flow while surrounded by greenery for a great cause. A portion of the donations from the class will go towards The GrowHaus to continue to provide the neighborhood produce. All levels are welcome. Make sure to bring your own mat and arrive early to grab your spot.

Summer Concert Series

The Lowdown: Denver’s Union Station and New Belgium Brewing teams up for a Summer Concert Series. Once a month starting Friday, the patio opens up for a free concert. The concerts feature local bands, special beer tappings and more. This month’s concert features SuperMagick, a soul-funk band.

The Budlong Hot Chicken Food Truck Launch

The Lowdown: Ratio Beerworks hosts The Budlong Hot Chicken Food Truck Launch. The launch features the new food truck that brings Nashville hot chicken to Denver with fried chicken in hot sauce with Texas toast, coleslaw and pickles. You can also try homemade sides like mac n cheese, collard greens and more.

Leon Takeover

Lowrider History & Hydraulic Demonstration
