God Save the Queens

The Lowdown: Hi-Dive Denver presents the third installment of God Save the Queens, a queer punk night. Put on your best punky outfit and dance all night. DJ Scott Toxsin and DJ Novelí spin killer beats to keep your head banging, but only if you’re over 21. If you feel like you don’t fit in the social norm, this is the perfect place to be.

The Lowdown: Landmark’s Chez Artiste Theatre continues the Film For All Seasons series. You can see a viewing of La Notte — a 1961 film about a couple struggling to unite. The film follows Marcello Mastroianni and Jeanne Moreau as their marriage deteriorates with their unfaithful misdoings. The film is directed by Michelangelo Antonioni.

The Lowdown: Alamo Drafthouse Denver and filmmaker Apo Bazidi host a DocuWest Documentary Film Series with a post-film trivia using Google Hangout. The film series features RESISTANCE IS LIFE, an award-winning film. The film shows the struggle of Evlin, a young refugee in the midst of the crisis in Syria. You can see how the people of Kobane rise up against ISIS and try to improve their lives. The trivia features questions from Bazidi and a discussion about the film.

The Lowdown: RedLine Contemporary Art Center presents Beyond the Studio Doors. The event features a discussion with RedLine artists, a celebration of the close of the 10X exhibition and more. The 10X exhibition featured over 80 artists from RedLine’s past, displaying a variety of work and celebrating many years of successful residencies. You can delight in snacks and drinks during the event and get a last look at the works in the exhibition.

The Lowdown: Celebrate the end of Women’s History Month by watching some amazing short films at Lunafest. All of the films in the fest are made for, about and by women. Lunafest is a traveling short film festival that celebrates all things woman. The proceeds from the event benefit the CWC Women’s Leadership Scholars Program. Free LUNA bars are given out to all attendees, because, duh.

That Time of the Month

The Lowdown: Meet other women to build friendships, network and support your female community at That Time of the Month. Annual Animation Show of Shows

Hoppin’ Half
