With the election season coming to a close, we all have reason to celebrate. Whether it’s a political win or the fact that you can now watch TV without election ads, everyone deserves a weekend of fun. Let’s check out some unique events happening in Denver this weekend to celebrate November.
Thursday, November 10
Free Avalanche Awareness Classroom
When: Thursday, November 10 from 8 – 10 p.m.
Where: Wilderness Exchanged Unlimited – 2401 15th St. #100, Denver

The Lowdown: Ski season is about to be in full swing, and it’s always good to be prepared. To get informed on avalanche safety and awareness, friends of Berthoud Pass will be hosting a free class this Thursday at Wilderness Exchange Unlimited. The class will cover topics such as hazards, observing weather, terrain, and self-rescue. Regardless of your experience, this class is for all levels of back-country skiers. No registration is required, and it is a free class to the public.
Denver Fashion Weekend – Night #1
When: Thursday, November – Doors at 7 p.m.
Where: City Hall Event Center – 1144 Broadway Denver

The Lowdown: Join 303 Magazine in celebrating the kick-off for the annual Denver Fashion Weekend this Thursday night at the City Hall Event Center. Local designers, boutiques and even national brands will strut down the runway Thursday and Saturday for the fashion weekend, showcasing the talent and prominence of the fashion scene home to the 303. The runway will showcase the designs of Femme Fatale Intimates, Mona Lucero, Gino Velardi, Steve Sells, Maggie Burns, Anthony H, Tyne Hall, Rachel Marie Hurst and Night by Charlie Price. Also, there will be an after-party following the event at Club Vinyl with performances by Colette accompanied by DFW’s resident DJ Walter White. Entry is free with the purchase of any fashion weekend ticket, but $20 without the purchase of a DFW ticket.
Peer Revue: Stand up for Science
When: Thursday, November 10 from 7:30 – 9 p.m.
Where: Denver Museum of Nature & Science – 2001 Colorado Blvd, Denver

The Lowdown: Watch scientists experiment with stand-up comedy for this first time this Thursday at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. The science comedy line-up includes a geologist, an ornithologist, a biologist, a microbiologist and a professional poet, so brace yourself for an evening filled with intellectual humor. The show will also feature an improv and comedy sketch show from the Showdowners, and will be hosted by Andrew Curtis Forlines from the Comedy VooDoo Playhouse.
Friday, November 11
The Election is Over. Tonight, We Dance!
When: Friday, November 11 – from 7 – 10:00 p.m.
Where: McNichols Building – 144 W. Colfax Ave. Denver
Cost: Suggested $7 donation.
The Lowdown: Finally, the persistent political ads and Facebook commentary is over. Despite the fact work still needs to be done, after this election, a night of dancing is in order. With that said, come celebrate the end of election season this Friday with a dance party. There will be music by Pink Hawks and Mile High Soul Club, with food and drinks. Though there will be a lot of action on the dance floor, there will also be postcards to fill out that highlight what you would like to see the new administration do within the first 100 days of office.
Free Days at Denver Botanic Gardens

The Lowdown: Enjoy a free day at the Denver Botanic Gardens. The Botanic Gardens serve as a compliment to the beauty of Denver and the state of Colorado, highlighting the diverse plant life our landscape offers. There are no tickets needed for the free days.
Boulder Restaurant Week

Where: 40 of Boulder’s Top Restaurants
Cost: $29 prix-fixe dinner menu
The Lowdown: Beginning Friday First Bite will be curating Boulder Restaurant Week in which 40 of the areas top restaurants will be serving a special three-course meal. Participating restaurants include Arugula, The Dushanbe Teahouse, FATE, Cafe Aion and Shine
Friday Night at the AnneX
When: Friday, November 11 from 3 – 9 p.m.
Where: Denver Film Festival – 2510 E Colfax Ave. Denver

The Lowdown: Join the Denver Film Society and Denver Film Festival this Friday at the AnneX. The AnneX is essentially the central hub for the Festival happening throughout the city. There will be an AR/VR Play space where you’ll get to check out some virtual reality demonstrations, an Honest Tea informative sessions to learn more about tea, sample tea and create a tote bag, as well as a happy hour at Argonaut Wine & Liquor Lounge.
Saturday, November 12
Chocolate, A Curated Event

The Lowdown: Enjoy local art, small bites, tasty chocolate and creative beverages. Chocolatiers include Stachi Fudge, Antelope Trading Company, Chocolate Lab, Truffles in Paradise, Goufrais German Chocolate, Robin Chocolates, Stargazer and Truffnies. With special guest Kingman Estates Winery. This is an obvious choice for any and all chocolate lovers.
The Giving Gathering
When: Saturday, November 12 from 8 p.m. – 2 a.m.

The Lowdown: ‘Tis the season of giving, and what better way to start than under a Supermoon? This Saturday, join other generous souls under November’s full moon, known as the Supermoon, at the Beat with music, art, comedy, local vendors and much more. The event is partnered up with Denver Rescue Mission and All Hands Volunteers, who support victims from Hurricane Katrina, to provide for an evening of donations. Guests are encouraged to bring items for donations, which include non-perishable food, furniture, clothing, household items and hygiene products.
Swingin’ Jass Jamboree
When: Saturday, November 12 from 8:30 p.m. – 12 a.m.

The Lowdown: Dance your way into the past this Saturday evening at Swingin’ Jass Jamboree. Swingin’ Denver, a community that offers swing classes throughout the Denver metro area, will be hosting a meet the scene ball, where guests will have a chance to experience this dance phenomenon that has lasted decades. There will one of the best local swing bands, cocktails, free swing dance lessons, a performance from the Colorado Swing dance schools and a whole lot of dancing.

Beginner Fire Eating Workshop

Denver Fashion Weekend – 10th Anniversary Hair Show

The Lowdown: The 10th annual DFW Hair Show will be this Sunday, filled with glam and outrageous hairstyles. This event has been an integral and coveted part of DFW, and with this year being the 10th year anniversary, it will sure be a show for the books. QUEER-lesque Burlesque: A Glitter Review
