Recommended: Machine Gun Kelly @ Summit Music Hall
Based out of Cleveland, Machine Gun Kelly lives up to his name with lyrics that are quick and witty with an unique flow. MGK’s name was inspired the notorious American mobster George Francis Barnes, and he rose to popularity after his 2011 performance at SXSW that got the attention of Bad Boy Records. His debut album Lace Up featured a lot of collaborating with other hip-hop artists and his sophomore album General Admission solidified his position within the music industry. July 2016 brought MGK’s latest single, “Young Man,” featuring Chief Keef.

Recommended: Dinosaur Jr. @ Bluebird Theater
Dinosaur Jr. is no newbie to the music scene. Their popularity began to rise as they rode on the wave of late ‘80s/early ‘90s alternative rock, crashing the music world with bands like the Pixies and Sonic Youth. They laid the foundation for where alternative rock music would go in the ‘90s. 2016 brought new music for the band with the release of their 11-song title Give A Glimpse Of What Yer Not. Their show at the Bluebird will be the first of their two-night run, a run ensured to highlight the depth of Dinosaur Jr,’s music.

Recommended: The Weeks @ Larimer Lounge
Mississippi-based The Weeks’ show at the Larimer Lounge will definitely showcase the southern alternative rock this band fuses. Their debut album Comeback Cadillac highlighted the potential of this young band, as the band’s average age at the time was only 18 years old. Just this September, they released their newest single, “Talk Like That,” a sign that the band will not stop making music any time soon. Their show at the Larimer Lounge will feature an opening act by the Cold Fronts.

Recommended: Bonobo @ Beta Nightclub
Legendary British musician, producer and DJ, Bonobo will be returning to Denver this week at Beta Nightclub on Thursday. Beta is home to Funktion one speakers, a sound system that amplifies the life behind electronic production. Bonobo was on the brink of a new sound for electronica in the early 2000s, experimenting with the genre that would end up expanding the sophisticated sound of his music. To this day, Bonobo still pushes the boundaries of his music and experiments with his signature sound. Bonobo records and performs live with an instrumental band, but at Beta, he will be sharing his skills as a DJ.

Recommended: Tipper (Tip-Hop night) @ Fillmore Auditorium
The iconic glitch-hop, trip-hop, downtempo, electronic musician Dave Tipper will be kicking off his three-night run at the Fillmore Friday. Producing music since the ‘90s, Tipper has experienced first-hand the evolution of audio production and his experiments with tempos created a signature sound. He has headlined Colorado’s Sonic Bloom festival many times, this year included, and thus created a home for himself here in Colorado. The first night of his run will be a Tip-Hop night, with the following night being uptempo and Sunday night ambient. This in itself highlights his depth in music production.
