Lady Jones is a recently-opened boutique that nestled its way into the Berkeley neighborhood of Denver. This quaint shop, located at 4016 Tennyson Street, is a fresh concept for Denver and provides clothing that can be considered staples with a twist. The owner, Nicole Schnitzlein, held the grand opening last week to signify the start of her new brand, offering an elegant edge to everyday fashion.

After moving from the East Coast, central New Jersey to be exact, Schnitzlein had a hard time finding a place to shop in Colorado that wasn’t the mall or a name brand store. That’s what prompted her idea to open a boutique that offers a little more of a refined aesthetic and is approachable, well priced and geared towards something that Denver doesn’t already have.

“My style derives from growing up in the Northeast and we’re trying to keep it classic with a little bit of an edge,” Schnitzlein said. “It’s where statements meet staples.”

Everything in the store is under $200, including high-end denim, jewelry and footwear. Along with the approachable pricing, there are also “give back” items, which include products from Toms, Mercado Global and other US made merchandise in order to give back to the community and world as a whole.

The grand opening of Lady Jones marked the beginning of the boutique and their timeless products. There’s an ageless factor to the clothing in order to approach a variety of generations. Instead of limiting herself to just one, Schnitzlein focuses on selling products to anyone from their mid-20s to a grandmother’s age, which is also what derived the name Lady Jones. The first part, lady, comes from the nickname Schnitzlein’s boyfriend gave her. The second part is a tribute to her grandmother, Joan Jones, who recently passed away.

“My grandmother who passed away was like another mother to my sisters and me,” she said. “She would make us clothes when we were little and she was a big part of forming us, so it was a little nod to her.”

After the grand opening last week, big plans are in store for the first of, hopefully, many Lady Jones shops.

“That’s the grand plan – to kind of get nestled in, get our brand rolling and open a couple more stores around,” she said.

Schnitzlein is looking forward to the business Denver brings. She also hopes customers find her store approachable and comfortable.

“Just come hang out with us,“ she said. “We want everyone to be happy with what they wear and we want to build a lasting relationship.”
