From the Denver Punk Rock Flea Market to Free Comic Book Day to the Colorado Chocolate Festival, there’s no scarcity of fun things to do this weekend–most of which are only five dollars or less. Denver Punk Rock Flea Market
When: Saturday, May 7, 12 – 5 p.m.
Where: Glitterdome Event Center – 3600 Wynkoop St., Denver
Cost: $5
The Low Down: This weekend the Glitterdome Event Center will be hosting a celebration of punk-rock culture with this Denver flea market. Vendors will be selling clothing, music equipment, vinyl and have advised guests not to expect vendors like Scentsy and Origami Owls. This all-ages event is assuredly going to be a good time and there’s also an after party at Seventh Circle Music Collective to continue the festivities into the evening.

How to Build a Lie: Apocryphal Technologies and works by Jamie Allen & Pablo Picasso
When: Friday, May 6, 7–11 p.m.
Where: DATELINE – 3004 Larimer St., Denver
The Low Down: This unique art opening merges two different artists on display at once. Stopping in Devner for the first time ever will be Jamie Allen–Swiss-Canadian media artist. Allen’s art revolves around media structures influence our lives. The other artist being featured is none other than the infamous Pablo Picasso. On display will be three works from his Imaginary Portraits lithographic series circa 1969. If you can’t make the opening, be sure to stop by DATELINE for the exhibit before it leaves on May 27.
Colorado Chocolate Festival
When: Friday, May 6, 4–9 p.m. & Saturday, May 7, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Where: The Denver Mart – 451 E. 58th Ave., Denver
Cost: $5 + Tasting Tickets
The Low Down: Boasting over 80 booths of chocolate vendors, the Colorado Chocolate Festival is an irresistible calling for everyones sweet tooth. Taste sweets from chocolatiers coming from all over the state, as well as some vendors from several other locales. Purple Rain & Graffiti Bridge Screenings
When: Sunday, May 7, Purple Rain at 6 p.m. and 10 p.m., Graffiti Bridge at 8 p.m.
Where: Oriental Theater – 4335 W. 44th Ave., Denver
Cost: Free
The Low Down: Celebrate the life of musical legend Prince this weekend with free screenings of Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge. The Oriental Theater will be joining theaters across the nation in honoring the films and the life of Prince with two viewings of Purple Rain and one of Graffiti Bridge. The event is free but it’s also first-come first-serve so you may want to arrive early.
Trick Dog takes over Williams & Graham
When: Thursday, May 5 through Sunday, May 8
Where: Williams & Graham – 3160 Tejon St., Denver
The Low Down: While Williams & Graham employees are away in Nicaragua on their yearly vacation, San Francisco cocktail bar Trick Dog will be taking over. Having been a finalist and a semi-finalist in the James Beard Awards, Trick Dog is a renowned locale presenting a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. This makes it all the more interesting to see what they have planned for their pop-up this weekend in Denver.
Free Comic Book Day
When: Saturday, May 7
Where: Various participating comic book stores around Colorado
Cost: Free
The Low Down: Every year on the first Saturday in May comic book stores across the country gear-up for Free Comic Book Day. Find out if your local store is participating and be sure to get up early as this event is only one day a year and will attract comic book enthusiasts from all over Colorado.
Mile High Soul Club: May Party
When: Saturday, May 7, 9 p.m.–2 a.m.
Where: Syntax Physics Opera – 554 S. Broadway St., Denver

The Low Down: Returning for their monthly party is the Mile High Soul Club this weekend. Syntax Physics Opera will be spinning ’60s funk, soul and R&B with a special selection of guest DJs perfect for the genres. It’s time to put aside club-thumping top-40s for one Saturday night and dance to some old-fashioned soul music.
Ratio Beerworks: Women for Delicious Beer

The Low Down: Social educational club Women for Delicious Beer will be meeting this weekend for a free and fun afternoon of craft beer. All women are invited whether you brew yourself or just appreciate a nice cold beer here-and-there. Leave the guys at home this Sunday for a unique ladies-day-out at Ratio Beerworks.
Denver Tool Library Concert Series & Bazaar

The Low Down: Denver locales Renegade Brewing and Sexy Pizza have partnered with the Denver Tool Library for this one-of-a-kind bazaar. US Tygers!, The Outfit and FACEMAN will be performing throughout the night alongside great vendors from Birdy to Jiberish Clothing. Tools, tacos and live screen printing can be added to the list of reasons to attend the first installment of this summer series on Friday night.
Furry Scurry

The Low Down: Benefitting the Dumb Friends League, Furry Scurry is an easy two-mile walk or run to raise money for homeless pets. Form a team with six or more of your friends to win special prizes and of course, bring your dog–one contest will be awarded to the largest canine crew. If you don’t have a pup it’s fine to join in on the festivities, admire some adorable dogs and support an important cause all along the way.
Circus Emporium Freakeasy presents PHOBIAS

The Low Down: An evening of frightening burlesque, hooping and magic awaits you at PHOBIAS this weekend hosted by Circus Emporium Freakeasy.
