Om Base: Kindness Yoga Marks Expansion With Free Day

Kindness is killing it. The popular yoga studio born four short years ago as a single location in Cherry Creek now boasts four distinct sites: Capitol Hill, Broadway, Hilltop and the aforementioned flagship. As it turns out, it’s just getting warmed up — and I’m not talking about Bikram either. While a wall of black plastic at the Cap Hill space blinds community members to its future dimensions, Broadway’s behemoth new room is poised for unveiling.

303 Magazine meditated with Kindness Marketing Sage Jack Cuneo to get the low down dog on this Sunday’s grand reopening.

Why did Kindness Yoga decide to expand its Broadway location?

Jack Cuneo: We had always dreamed of expanding the South Broadway space. The community there is strong and enthusiastic. They’ve been asking us for more space to play. We also want to provide opportunities for the neighborhood to come together by bringing in other events that align with our mission. We’re working with our partners to put together a weekly conscious dance night, for instance. And Friday Night Yoga Club at our space is going to be off the hook this winter.

What are the attributes of the new studio?

It’s huge. We’ve got over 3,000 square feet, meaning really popular classes and events can grow by leaps and bounds. We’ve put in a state-of-the-art ceiling-mounted sound system for awesome, powerful sound throughout the whole room. We’ve also invested in gorgeous LED panel lighting for a warm, beautiful glow and remarkable energy efficiency. The space feels like flying. We’ve named it the Sky Studio. The original Broadway practice room, which has a supportive, internal, castle-like feel, is being named the Earth Studio.

What’s in store for the Grand Reopening on Sunday, Nov. 2?

It’s going to be one big celebration of community. All classes at the South Broadway location will be free, and we expect them to be full to the brim and a rocking good time. Nectar House, our organic cafe friends and neighbors, are providing samples and unveiling a new fall menu so you can chat with friends and get nourished before and after class. There will be chair massage, giveaways from local businesses, and other fun surprises throughout. We’re also adding a special Intro to AcroYoga workshop and a Family Yoga class from our partners at Radiant Beginnings Yoga in the afternoon. The event is growing even as we speak.
