Arts Caravan, a local Denver circus collective, is throwing an event this Sunday, August 10, at the Circus Dungeon in Golden (16250 S. Golden Rd). You’re guaranteed wild entertainment from 3 til 9:30pm… and will probably also encounter something sexy, adventurous, mild blowing, gut wrenching, scandalous, hilarious, and perhaps a few things that are, well, just a bit naughty. There will be fire, stilts, clowns, comedy, live story telling, magic, tricks on wheels, and even a freak show.

The earlier you arrive, the more kid-friendly the event. As the sun goes down, so does the modesty.

Zia Pixie, the lead instigator behind the Arts Caravan, says:

“This one-time-only afternoon and evening of thrills, chills, and skills is sure to nourish and expand your brain and feed your soul. Hands on creative workshops for the big and the small, conscious society inspired talks, roving performers, vendors and artisans will fill the Clown Dungeon grounds through the afternoon. Come prepared to witness astonishing feats and hilarious antics with a variety style all-ages show.”

Arts Caravan is a traveling troupe of Colorado-based visual, circus, and performing artists presenting a learning experience for all ages. They strive, not only to entertain, but to bring the experience of circus performing to a local level so that everyone can play along.

“We are committed to connecting communities and developing conscious society through creativity and expression. By cultivating a cross pollination of creatives we are able to introduce circus arts, visual arts, music, and exchanges of passions to a broad spectrum of people.”

Arts Caravan is more interactive than your average circus. There will also be numerous workshops and speakers throughout the afternoon festivities, including gesture drawing, ceramic wheel spinning, and movement classes. Speaker topics include discussions about passive solar architecture, DJs in the festival community, and conscious communication skills. There is literally something for everyone.

Because if you’re not having fun… what’s the point?

  1. More like, get your fail on. My boyfriend and I went to this atrocity, it was awful. We should have stayed home, saved our time and money, and watched paint dry. It would have been more entertaining. But big props to the author of this article, she made it sound like a lot of fun. If the event had actually been half as enjoyable as reading about it, maybe the $20 admission would have felt less wasteful. Come on Allison Cohn, I'm assuming Arts Caravan gave you Burning Man tickets in exchange for writing this? Cool story bro.
