The Friday Experience is not just about a story to be told it’s about adventure in our Culture; it’s about getting yourself out and about in our society. Rethinking Western the current art show at Gallery 1261, showing through February 23rd , takes the audience on a visually updated journey through what the “West” means to artists that live and work in the West today.

It’s not an accident that this show also coincided with the opening of the Coors Western Art Exhibit at the Stock Show National Western Stock Show, January 12-27, 2013. Rethinking Western features new works by Carolyn Anderson, Gordon Brown, Mark Daily, Floyd DeWitt, Ulrich Gleiter, Quang Ho, Michael Lynch, Mike Malm, Jim Morgan, Grant Redden, Matt Smith, Jill Soukup and Michael Workman.

“The West isn’t provincial anymore,” says Mark Daily “The art world doesn’t center around New York anymore. That notion has become obsolete”.

Rethinking Western gives the viewer an opportunity to behold subjects with a modern style that truly defines Western art today. Each Artist offers their unique approach to life in the West.

Whether it’s an oil painting or bronze sculpture that excites you, take the time this weekend to explore Denver and visit this show.
