Eyeliner is simply the single most important eye product out there, bar none. You can create so many looks with this one single tool: the Audrey Hepburn eye, Smoldering, smokey eyes, Cleopatra cat eyes… the world is your oyster and eyeliner is the pearl!!! Just check out Numéro magazine’s August 2010 shoot entitled “L’Ensorceleuse” by Photographer Greg Kadel.
Getting the right look
There are a ton of products out there promising that they are the one for you, but which one’s actually are?
Cream Liner:
Best transformative product, because you can get a sharp “liquid” line, as well as a smokey look if you blend it while it’s still wet.
MAC Fluid Line : Fluid Line creates a softer finish than its competition, but make sure you buy the right brush to match it.
Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream Liner : A multipurpose tool that is a must, its versatility isn’t its only strength. Make Up For Ever always deliver professional products in a wide range of great colors and their Aqua Cream liner is a great tool for any look.
Smashbox Jet Set: What I love about this product is that it stays blend-able for up to 60 seconds and then sets to a smudge-proof state. This is great for long days at work or longer nights on the town!
Liquid Liner:
Liquid Liner is great for a sharp, precise line, but takes some practice.
Dior Style Liner #094: The brush on this liner gives a really exact line without the mess, for that strong, dramatic line.
Cover Girl Line Exact Pen: This liner looks like a calligraphy pen, and works much the same. You can draw a precise line or something a little more bold. And, because it’s a drugstore brand you can save some scratch.
Stila Stay All Day waterproof liquid liner: Another great pen product that goes on smoothly and dries fast. This one has some serious lasting power too!
Almay Liquid eyeliner: Another “inkwell”style applicator, Almay’s gives great control. Also, it’s another good drugstore option.
Pencil Liner:
The most widely used liner, pencils give a less sharp, easily blendable line.
Dior Crayon Eyeliner: This double-ended pencil has a pencil-tip for a natural, single line or use the foam-end to soften the liner further.
Sephora Flashy Liner: This pencil gets its “Flashy” name from the metallic shine it gives and because its waterproof, it won’t start to run if you get caught out in a flash flood.
