Award season is officially underway! Sure there are plenty of great movies, writers and directors to rate and applaud, but it’s really the fashion that deserves scrutiny. We all know that!
I have to say I’m quite impressed this go around. Great taste walked the rainy red carpet. Some of my personal favorites were January Jones in Lanvin, Emily Blunt in Dolce & Gabbana, Kate Hudson in Marchesa,Toni Collette in Elie Saab and Jane Krakowski in J. Mendel.
The thing about award show fashions is that the styles set the stage (no pun intended) for spring fashion. Trends that are prevalent on the red carpet, often become some of the most popular consumer trends.
Ruffles like on Emily, one-shoulder looks like on Jane, metallics like on Toni, constructed looks like on Kate and mixed fabrics like on January seemed to be dominant and I expect we’ll see sportswear looks that mimic these themes.
I’m anxious to see what Sunday’s SAG Awards hold in the way of fashion that is. I can only hope that it feeds my style soul with as much gold as the Globes did.
