Easter is this Sunday, and if you need something to offset all the sugar you consumed downing another box of Peeps, a long, relaxing brunch is holiday must. So if you’re looking for somewhere to spend some quality family time this Easter (or just looking to satisfy your munchies from that other celebration that falls on April 20th) here are Denver’s best places to brunch this weekend:
1. Humboldt Farm :: Fish :: Wine
Where: 1700 Humboldt Street
When: Sunday April 20th, 10am-3pm
What to Expect: Reinvented Easter classics from Executive Chef D.J. Nagle in this recently reinvented space that was once home to Strings. Their Crispy Broccoli ($8) was s stand out when I last visited Humboldt for brunch, and entrees like the “Glazed Ham” Pork Loin ($22) with scalloped cheddar potatoes and green beans offers comfort food at its best.
2. Parallel Seventeen
Where: 1600 E 17th Avenue
When: The Easter menu is available now through April 20th; Monday-Friday 11am-3pm, Saturday & Sunday 9am-3pm. Also available during dinner hours.
What to Expect: Globally inspired dishes from Chef Mary Nguyen with plenty of spring ingredients to celebrate the season. The Asparagus Soup ($9) with snow crab and meyer lemon oil offers light and refreshing flavors, and if you still have a sweet tooth, try the Stuffed French Toast ($6) with blueberries, walnuts, ricotta and five spice crème anglaise.
3. 1515 Restaurant
Where: 1515 Market Street
When: Sunday, April 20 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
What to Expect: A specially prepared menu of choices that show off 1515’s ability to play with food through technique like sous vide and molecular gastronomy. The menu is available a la carte or you can build your own 3 course brunch for $30/person with kid’s specials for $5. Expect starters like the Shrimp and Grits ($12) with lime and brown sugar marinated shrimp, goat cheese grits, balsamic and olive oil tomato and caper salad and fun brunch entrees like The Kings Waffle ($12) with raspberries, Nutella powder, bacon bits and maple syrup.
4. Comida
Where: The Source, 3350 Brighton Blvd. Unit 105
When: 9am-3pm
What to Expect: Brunch favorites with a Latin twist. With food truck roots, Comida at The Source brings street-style comfort food to the table for a meal that will please the whole family on Easter. The stand out dish is The Fried Chicken Option ($14) with juicy chicken spiced up by chimayo chile and jalapeño bacon jelly and served over roasted garlic mashed potatoes and spicy collard greens. Or try the Lemon Queso Fresco Pancakes ($12) served with toasted pepitas and blueberry jalapeño syrup for a light, fruity start to your Sunday.
5. Olive & Finch
Where: 1552 E 17th Ave
When: Open 7am-10pm Daily
What to Expect: Rather spend Easter Sunday at home but don’t want the hassle of cooking? Order ahead from Olive & Finch, their entire menu of is available for curbside pickup. Or, get an adult-version of the classic Easter basket and spend your holiday brunch sorting through goodies like house made Peeps, a box of house-made coffee truffles, and a 4 oz jar of Jelly Belly jellybeans.
