Meet Priscilla Varner: The Designer Behind Beach Haus Swim

In May 2025, Priscilla Varner, creator of Beach Haus Swim, was one of five designers to show a collection at Denver Fashion Week’s first-ever Swim & Resort Wear runway. After the dust settled from the spring season, Varner sat down with 303 Magazine to share the inspirations behind her company.

Varner, originally from Florida, never thought that her path would lead her to owning a swim store, but come the year 2022, her adventure with Beach Haus began. The first store operated out of a tiny home in Colorado that was just 240 square feet — “40 feet of that was a dressing room,” according to Varner. By November 2023, they were able to move to their current location in Larimer Square.

Now with a brick-and-mortar location, customer care is Varner’s biggest priority. She wants Beach Haus to be a safe place where all women can come and feel taken care of. It’s not just about the sale: it’s about making these women feel confident in their skin and excited about swimwear.

To make this dream a reality, Beach Haus caters to as wide a range of customers as you can imagine: “We have folks come in that really are uncomfortable with their bodies, and we are there to hug and cry and support them and cheer them on in their search.”

This isn’t your typical boutique pushing you to buy something you don’t feel good in. Even when her store doesn’t carry the style a customer is looking for, Varner starts by helping them find silhouettes and cuts they’re comfortable in. Then, she uses their feedback in her future designs.

“We might not be able to have everything for everybody, but you are heard, we paid attention to you when you came in… I just want everybody to feel like they’ve been seen,” said Varner.

In fact, when asked about the most rewarding part of her job, Varner became emotional explaining, “it’s the people, [seeing them] get so excited that they feel sexy for the first time in a swimsuit.

In recalling a heartwarming story about a customer knowing they could come to Beach Haus for “someone to talk to,” Varner shared how meaningful it felt to help create that space in her community: “That made me feel so good, that we’re actually doing what we set out to do”, she shared.

The criteria for a great swimsuit in Varner’s world is “anything that makes you feel amazing, if that means cheeks out, itty bitty, and you are like ‘oh my god, I am hot sh*t right now’ that is a great swim suit…to me that would look different, my cheeks need to be in and my boobs need to be up.”

In other words, she understands what it’s like to struggle to find a suit when nothing seems to feel right.

While she carries a wide variety of options for her customers, if she had to pick a go-to style that’s flattering for most, she recommends a shirred pleat on a swimsuit top. According to pleat makes the suit accommodating for all chest sizes.

Beach Haus at Denver Fashion Week Spring 2025

“I had the absolute best time,” Varner shared, looking back at Denver Fashion Week Spring 2025. When the opportunity presented itself to show a collection in May this year, Varner wanted to show Denver that swim doesn’t have to be worn for only one occasion. Her event-planning side thrived, even planning a pop-up fashion show in Larimer Square to prepare for the big day.

On the day of the event, her runway collection included traditional swim looks as well as day time looks that could work from sight-seeing straight to the pool. To close off the show, she showed looks inspired by rave fashion, used swimsuits to create eccentric party ready looks.

In the future, she hopes to continue being a safe, fun environment in the Denver community: “We really do love our community members,” Varner shared. “We are here for them, and we want them to know that swimwear does have a place in fashion… and it doesn’t have to be a scary thing to shop for because we got your back.”

Alongside daily connection with her customers, Beach Haus is looking forward to exciting things on the horizon. She’s working with her daughter on a new collection to help girls with larger chests feel cute and comfortable, and hopes to one-day open a store in Florida.

In the meantime, Varner will be in Larimer Square, making sure you find a suit that makes you want to strut your stuff and not cover up.

Beach Haus is located online and at 1417 Larimer St, Denver, CO 80202 Monday-Saturday 11am-7pm and Sunday 11am-5pm.
