There’s some properly huge news to break on the concert scene this week (if you’ve not already heard), and this is it: the last-ever iteration of the Underground Music Showcase is happening THIS WEEKEND all around south Broadway from Friday until Sunday! Ending its 25-year run on the highest of notes, they’ve got acts like Old Man Saxon, El Ten Eleven, DeVotchKa, FIDLAR, The Photo Atlas, May Be Fern spread across 4 stages and 12 total venues. The swan song of UMS isn’t one to skip over, so pick up those passes and get out to some of the best music you’ll get to see all year!
Never fear! If you aren’t able to make it to UMS, we’ve got some bangin’ shows happening in Denver that you’ll still be able to get on out to. The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band has returned to town to bless us with the rowdiest of rock n’ roll shows at the Bluebird Theater on 7/24, and none other than local rippers Shady Oaks will be shredding the stage to get things popping off early—this will be a proper hoe-down throwdown.
The dynamic duo known as Break Science are coming to Meow Wolf on 7/25 to provide their unique blend of MF Doom and A Tribe Called Quest with their new Doom Tribe set, blending beats and instrumentals from both hip-hop phenoms into one incredible set of music. Casual Commander and Eliptek will be bringing the funk early, so you can’t go wrong getting your whole Friday night on at the Perplexiplex this weekend.
All the other shows this week are below—as always, stay in the know about Denver’s music scene with yours truly at 303 Magazine!
