Explore the best of local food and drink and make an impact at VOA Colorado’s first-ever Spirit Wine + Food Festival. Located in the heart of RiNo, the festival celebrates local culinary gems, live music and community impact. “Denver has always been a city with a heart—brimming with people who show up for each other. That spirit of generosity, resilience and community pride is exactly what Spirit Colorado is designed to celebrate,” said Faustine Curry, VP of Marketing and Advancement at VOA Colorado.
Celebrate with VOA on Saturday, June 14 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for unlimited tastings, entertainment and a chance to see two 303 Editors compete in the Media Showdown for a chance to win $10,000 in support of the Theodora Family Hotel, one of VOA Colorado’s most impactful programs. All proceeds from the event will go towards supporting individuals and families in Colorado who are facing homelessness, hunger and hardship.
Behind VOA are the people and community that help over 100,000 people in need each year. The nonprofit, faith-based organization has 50 distinct human service programs, such as The Mission in Denver, Early Childhood Education Center, Senior Nutrition Programs, Veterans Service Center and Family Motel that you can volunteer at across the metro area. “What makes us unique is that we meet people where they are—with dignity, respect, and hope—and walk with them toward a brighter future,” said Curry. Assemble comfort kits, serve meals to those experiencing homelessness, read books in classrooms and offer support and resources to those experiencing mental health difficulties. “Whether you have a free afternoon or want to make a long-term impact, there’s a role for everyone,” Curry encouraged.
At the event, explore a range of food and beverage options from local vendors, distillers and wineries. Sip and savor while you listen to live entertainment from local bands, including the Freddie Rodriguez Jr and Band, The Edgewater Project and the Wash Park Band. Live graffiti art installations by local artists will also be on display, true to RiNo’s artistry that lines Larimer Street and the surrounding neighborhoods.
Want to see two of 303 Magazine’s very own compete in the Media Showdown? Here’s your chance. “One of the festival’s most anticipated events is the Media Showdown—an appetizer-and-wine
pairing competition featuring local media personalities, including 303’s own Emily Rodz and
Kymberly Draphco” expressed Curry. This year, 303 Magazine is working with the Theodora Family Hotel and Chef Jim Pittenger of Bikers and Bakers. The Theodora Family Hotel – on West Colfax – is a transformative space designed to support up to 170 residents, including families and veterans, with trauma-informed care and access to critical wraparound services like housing navigation, employment coaching, childcare support and case management. With a focus on empowering women and children, Theodora is more than a place to stay, but a pathway to stability, healing and independence and we are proud to represent them at this year’s festival.
The festival – as VOA’s president and CEO, Dave Schunk – expressed, “Spirit Colorado is where joy meets purpose. It’s a weekend to savor incredible food, celebrate Colorado’s vibrant culture, and stand together for something bigger than ourselves. Every ticket fuels real change for people experiencing homelessness, hunger, and hardship—and that’s a celebration worth being part of.” So come hungry, snap and tag your moments with #SpiritColorado, dress to impress, wear comfortable shoes, don’t miss the Media Showdown and let’s go forward together for a better future for all.
