Sound is one of the most vital things at a concert, alongside the performance and visuals. Sound is what makes the walls vibrate, your heart flutter and gets your feet moving. Andrew Kirschman is an audio engineer and founder of AKA Event Productions (AKA) who helps ensure the show-goer’s experience is nothing short of spectacular when he’s around. This week, he’s focused on his collaboration with artist and DJ, Mersiv, and their debut of an epic sound experience, the Audiosphere, on Friday, April 4th at Red Rocks Amphitheater.

“The Audiosphere is an object-based surround sound system that has been tailored in a way that allows the artist to control when, what and how things move through the audience,” Kirschman said. The audience can also expect moments where individual elements of the music are perceived to move up and down and left and right throughout Red Rocks, according to Kirschman.

Anderson Benoit Gallegos, better known as Mersiv, has worked with longtime friend Kirschman to debut the Audiosphere, and both are hyped on the outcome that is set to wow the crowd. This will be Mersiv’s third time headlining Red Rocks and he promises that it’s his best one yet. “We are attempting to push the boundaries of live music experiences, but also push the boundaries of shows that have happened at Red Rocks,” Mersiv said in a statement. “We have had so much fun putting this show together. It will sound unlike any other show that’s happened at Red Rocks, and visually, it will still be a step above any headline show that the Mersiv Sound Project has done in the past.”

Before his work with Mersiv and the preeminent epic debut of the Audiosphere, Kirschman found his love for music by playing instruments at a young age. “[Music] has always scratched a creative itch for me through my teenage years,” Kirschman said. “As I got older, I realized there is a different approach in which I could scratch that creative itch while helping other people. My switch to full-time audio engineering and starting AKA was a pursuit to identify creative ways that allow artists new avenues to express their creativity.”

Kirschman’s company, AKA, provides professional sound reinforcement for large-scale festivals and small events. Based in Denver, the vibrant music scene keeps Kirschman busy and constantly evolving. “As we all know, Denver has an incredible music scene. Shows of all genres sell out every single week. With this comes a very high bar of production, execution and reliability,” Kirschman said. “I realized pretty quickly after moving to Denver that we would need to operate on a higher level if we wanted to have a chance. This includes the purchase of our PK Sound system, being the first to bring this PA to Denver, as well as upgrading our skill and tool set to be up to date with real-time industry standards.”

Music means a lot to Kirschman, so he set out with a mission to make it his career. It is no surprise that he succeeded, and he thanks music for all the wonderful connections he’s made throughout his life. “Music, to me, is my friends, my family, the good times — and all I really care to do,” Kirschman said. “My fiancée, Anna, met me while buying a ticket to one of our shows, nearly 13 years ago. Anderson (Mersiv) and I met at his first show, which I provided speakers for, in 2012. The incredible people in my life, almost all come from music and concerts.”

You can see Kirschman’s work this Friday at Red Rocks up close and in person with Mersiv and their debut of the Audiosphere. The night’s theme is Attack on Mars, featuring other artists ALLEYCVT, Mr. Carmack, Lumasi, Zen Selekta, and Seth David.
