Denver Fashion Week Emerging Designer Challenge Fashion Show

Where: The Jacquard, Autograph Collection in Cherry Creek, 222 Milwaukee St., Denver, CO

The Lowdown: This event is an opportunity for aspiring designers to showcase their talent in an elegant and sophisticated environment. Two designers will be selected to present their collections in the upcoming Denver Fashion Week Spring 2025 season (May 10-18). These designers will be chosen by a panel of judges including two Denver Fashion Week lead producers and local designers, as well as those in attendance who can also vote.

The Lowdown: Nocturne is bringing dinner and a show to you by the Danish String Quartet, which includes three Danes and one Norwegian: Frederik Øland (violin), Rune Tonsgaard Sørensen (violin), Asbjørn Nørgaard (viola) and Fredrik Schøyen Sjölin (cello). They will perform Nordic folk tunes from their albums Last Leaf and Wood Works. Dinner will entail four courses of Scandinavian dishes.

The Lowdown: Bryce Vine is an American rapper and singer. He is in town for the Motel California Tour with opener Jayo, who is a British-Nigerian singer-songwriter. Vine’s last album release was in 2019 entitled Carnival.

The Lowdown: Andy Frasco & The U.N. is an American blues rock band that formed in 2007. It includes Andrew Frasco (lead vocals, keys), Ernie Chang (saxophone), Shawn Eckels (guitar, vocals), Andee “Beats” Avila (drums, vocals) and Floyd Kellogg (bass guitar). You may also be familiar with Andy Frasco’s World Saving Podcast. The Main Squeeze and special guest Squeaky Feet will also perform.

The Lowdown: The Disco Biscuits are a jam band from Philadelphia. They formed in 1995 and have been impressively touring ever since. Their last album was Otherwise Law Abiding Citizens LIVE (11/3/2024 – Terminal West, Atlanta, GA) (2024). They are known to play their trancefusion, livetronica, psytrance and are sure to bring the good vibes and make you groove along.

Americana: Redefined with Enion Pelta-Tiller

When: Feb. 9, 6 p.m.
Where: Parsons Theatre, 1 E. Memorial Pkwy., Northglenn, CO

The Lowdown: Americana: Redefined will include the Boulder Philharmonic String Orchestra and guest artist Enion Pelta-Tiller. The concert will journey through American folk music, gospel, jazz, blues, bluegrass, country and global folk traditions. It will bring orchestral music to the Front Rage with jazz legend Ornette Coleman, along with songs like Cluck Old Hen and Red River Jig and much more.

The Lowdown: The 7th annual Lake San Cristobal Brew-Ski takes place this weekend. While it’s a bit of a trek from Denver, it is a fun event to participate in, where guests can walk, sled, ski or snowshoe to six stations throughout a mile-long course on Colorado’s second-largest natural lake. Each station will have beer tasting or hot cocoa to pair with a snack. The ticket allows for travel through the course once. Pets are welcome. Consider taking a mini-vacation out to Lake City.

Colorado Wolf Restoration Discussion

Foxy and Shmoxy: Art Detectives

Where: Denver Art Museum, 100 W. 14th Ave. Pkwy., Denver, CO

The Lowdown: Two silly foxes will work to solve mysterious cases involving artworks in the galleries. This experience is to help young children experience artworks in a humorous storytelling format. Performances take place in the galleries on the second Sunday of each month through May. Guests will open a fox box and read a clue to find where the foxes are performing that day.
