In Colorado, the weather outside is not only frightful during the holiday season. From now into May, we can get weather that makes us want to grab our favorite cozy blanket and sit in front of a nice warm fire sipping on our favorite warm beverage. We’re unsure how winter weather and hot chocolate became besties, but we are all for it. There is something about that warm creamy chocolatey cup of goodness that makes braving the elements worth it.

Cultura Chocolate

The Lowdown: First up is Cultura Chocolate. With chocolate in the name you know the hot chocolate will be a full delightful experience. If you are not able to choose, you can select a beverage flight and try the sipping chocolate, drinking chocolate, traditional atoles and prehispanic atoles.
Piece, Love & Chocolate
Where: 805 Pearl St., Boulder
When: Monday – Tuesday 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Wednesday – Sunday 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
The Lowdown: It’s all about love. The love of chocolate, that is. If you consider yourself a chocolate connoisseur and you’re always on the search for a great cup of hot chocolate, we suggest adding Peace, Love & Chocolate to your list the next time you are in Boulder.
Amante Coffee

The Lowdown: If you need a late-night coffee spot, Bardo Coffee House is your place to go. It offers free wi-fi and hot cocoa among other drinks to keep you fueled as you work, study, write that book or get to know someone new. In addition to the South Broadway location, you can find Bardo Coffee House at West 38th Avenue and South Wadsworth.
Chez Lizeth Creperie

The Lowdown: This next one is giving us Emily in Paris vibes. While you may be tempted to have one or more solo dates at Chez Lizeth Creperie, it is a great place to catch up with friends, family or have a mommy and me date day. Pair your hot chocolate with one of its breakfast, sweet or savory crepes.
Maci Cafe

The Lowdown: Located in Denver’s LoHi neighborhood, Maci Cafe is another great spot to find sip-able chocolate. The Lowdown: Wrapping up this list is Wake and Take Coffee Shop. While it goes unnoticed, Aurora has some hidden neighborhood gems. This is one of them. Not only can you get a delicious cup of hot chocolate, but you can enjoy live music and a variety of pastries. You will not want to sleep on this one the next time you visit Auroroa.
