Known for its quality sandwiches and community-fostering mission, it’s no wonder Leven Deli Co. is one of Denver’s most beloved eateries. Its multifaceted setup – deli, wine bar, wine shop, bakery, market and caterer – are some of the (few) reasons why people flock to grab a quick bite for lunch, book a meal for a family reunion, catch up with an old friend or grab a gift from a local vendor. Now, it’s expanding to Wash Park on Monday, January 13 as Leven Supply, a one-stop shop equipped with a restaurant, grocery, gift and wine shop, plus a new category: sourdough pizza.
Leven Supply is a 2,800-square-foot space filled with all of the same good intentions you would expect at its OG location in the heart of Cap Hill. Find a bite to eat, wine to take home, high-end local groceries and the same great signature scratch baking the deli has to offer, but this time, sourdough pizza is involved. “Our sourdough starter is at the heart of Leven’s bread program, and it’s exciting to see what it can do when applied to pizza dough,” says bakery manager Doug Anderson. Think Neapolitan style with a “bubbly crust and great flavor” continues Anthony Lygizos, co-founder and sommelier of Leven Deli. “True to our culinary philosophy, we’re topping our scratch-made pizzas with top-quality ingredients – house-made pomodoro sauce, premium cheeses, clams, Polidori sausage, broccoli rabe, etc.” It wouldn’t be Leven if there weren’t made-to-order grilled and cold sandwiches, Mediterranean-inspired salads and small plates featuring everything from tinned fish with grilled bread to elevated mozzarella sticks to lamb meatballs and so much more, including soft-serve ice cream, house-made tiramisu and warm chocolate chip cookies.
The ZS Capital and Elkco Properties space in collaboration with Semple Brown, Williams Construction and W West Equipment, will feature 40 indoor dining seats, which will expand to the patio later this year for the warmer spring days ahead. “Signature food venues have a lasting impact on their surrounding community — and Leven’s impact on Denver’s culinary scene has been both swift and significant. We have loved partnering with Leven to reinforce the qualities that make them special,” says Nathan Gulash, architect at Semple Brown. The space will be adorned with all of the same decorative goodness you would expect at Leven Deli. Mediterranean-inspired decor, including cobalt-blue floral tiles, custom upholstered chairs, rattan pendant lights, live plants, and up-cycled materials like a salvaged table give the space life. It also hosts a mini print vending machine from artist Anastasia Inciardi, offering exclusive, custom-made art unique to Leven.
At the heart of Leven Deli Co. and now, Leven Supply is the team and the opportunity for career development. “As the deli continued to succeed and we continued to grow our leaders within the restaurant, we realized that to continue to provide a career path for our team, we would need to open more locations,” says Lygizos. This led to the opening of its Garfield production location and the expansion of the bakery, prep team, catering and offices. “To expand further, we need[ed] more concepts to provide more development opportunities for our team members at the deli. Leven Supply was born from this desire,” he continues.
Leven Supply, will offer a mix of retail items from local brands – Lottie’s Meats & Provisions, Not Bad Cooks sauces, Tea with Tae, Sfoglina Denver pasta and more – house-made products like Leven’s own house-made granola – deli sides, bread, wine (most under $25) and a new monthly subscription box called “Leven Provisions.” With items like lamb meatballs, olive ciabatta loaf, strawberry rosemary jam and spiced almond cookie dough on its rotating selection of goods, you’re sure to get something that’ll hit the spot every time. “We are excited to join the West Wash Park neighborhood as we hope to provide a one-stop shop for the neighborhood with scratch-made grab-and-go eats and thoughtfully curated groceries, gifts and wine selections.”
As Leven embarks on its opening week in Wash Park, don’t miss out on your opportunity to explore its new menu, grocery, wine and catering options sure to fit any occasion and find community in great food made by great people.
Leven Supply will be opening on Monday, January 13. It is located at 300 E Alameda Ave, Unit D, Denver. Its hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
