Gastamo Group, the organization behind beloved eateries Park Burger, Lady Nomada, Homegrown Tap & Dough and Park & Co. introduced a second location for Perdida Mexican Kitchen in Westminster in late fall of 2024. Under the same roof also lies the newest Homegrown Tap & Dough location, but we’ll save that for another day. Known for its original oasis near Wash Park, Perdida serves up vibrant flavors and wood-fired dishes inspired by the coast of Mexico, using fresh, local and organic ingredients.
Here’s a look inside its new location filled with the same quality food, great vibes and sense of community.
Because Perdida is inspired by Baja, when you first step through its doors, you are immediately greeted with a breath of coastal air emitted through its thoughtful design. Bright murals and colorful décor line the interior with its signature azure tile on the ground throughout the dining room and a vintage VW buggy on the exterior rounds out its groovy spirit. All of which comes from local artists and sources, further leaning into its community-immersion goal. “Our vision with Perdida Kitchen and Homegrown Tap & Dough was to create places that allow people to step away from the everyday and immerse themselves in something special” says said Peter Newlin, Chief Visionary Officer and Co-Founder of Gastamo Group. Like being immersed in the “the vibrant, sun-soaked escape of Baja.” Not only is its design visually appealing, but at Perdida, all the senses are involved. Along with its beachy vids, it has a full, high-quality sound system equipped with a vintage record collection and classic record player perfect for setting the ambiance in the casual luxury space.
Its menu is adorned with the same great items as its Denver location, boasting tacos, fajitas, shareable favorites curated by Jean-Philippe Failyau, CEO and Co-Founder of Gastamo Group, margaritas and more. Broken down between starters, enchiladas, fajitas, tacos, soups & salads, from the fire and postres (dessert) there is something for everyone no matter what you’re in the mood for. If you’re looking to dabble in a little bit of everything, go for the Baja Trio with warm queso, guacamole and fire-roasted salsa to start. Or opt for a Perdida favorite, ceviche – snapper, salsa macha, red onion, cucumber, mango and micro cilantro for the perfect bite from the sea. Street corn, fried grilled shrimp and mini chili rellenos also sit alongside the long list of shareables.
Now, onto tacos – the fish can’t be beaten, although the birria comes marginally close. Its fish taco is perfectly seasoned and grilled with chipotle aioli, cabbage slaw, pico and cilantro, while the birria contains asadero cheese, ancho chile dipping sauce, radish salad and pickled onion – each very unique in its own way. Other contenders on the menu span from vegan to meat lovers with its mushroom, chicken tinga, fried avocado and carnitas options. Want to build it your way? Go with the fajitas for a sizzling good time. Choose from chicken, steak, grilled jumbo shrimp, veggie or mix two to double up on the fun. Of course, they come with all the fixings of pico, sour cream, cheese, guacamole, corn tortillas, cilantro lime rice and black beans so you’re free to curate every bite like its your own mini adventure. Enchiladas follow the same suit – protein of your choosing, choice of classic red or tomatillo morita sauce and side of cilantro lime rice and black beans.
Since Perdida is known for its wood-fired technique, the From the Fire dishes carry loads of flavor and are for those who come with big appetites. Choose from crispy pork carnitas, diablo shrimp, Chile salmon, carne asada or the ultimate Perdida’s Best of Plate, which includes a birria taco, chicken enchilada and crispy pork carnitas. If, after all that, you still could still use dessert, you should it’s worth it. We know, we tried them all. The tres leches cake, Ghiradelli chocolate brownie and churros are all not-too-sweet desserts that hit the spot just right. If you want to know our favorite – it’s the brownie.
It wouldn’t be Mexican fare without liquid libations to pair with it. Perdida’s drink menu comes equipped with a wide array of tequila (anejo, blanco, mezcal, reposado), beer, wine, signature cocktails and everyone’s favorite: margaritas. Get individual or pitchers ($35) for up to six people and choose from a selection of its specialty and house margarita flavors like elderflower, cali caliente, passionfruit and prickly pear. In honor of dry January, we can’t neglect to tell you about the mocktail options. The Spiced Sangria – pomegranate, lemon, spiced hibiscus – and London Lavender – Lyre’s Pink London, lavender syrup, lime juice and fresh mint – offer refreshing flavors of fall and mint notes with citrus twists.
With the opening of Perdida and its neighbor, Homegrown Tap & Dough, under the same roof, Gastamo wanted to ensure that both were integral to the community. Colorado already has such a beautiful landscape that it was easy to see how well both restaurants fit perfectly within Westminster. “This community has such a unique vibe – it’s vibrant, family-oriented, and growing, which feels like a natural fit for us. Westminster is a place where we can grow with the community, not just serve great food but create a spot where people feel at home,” explains Failyau. So, grab your friends and family and head on over to these eateries making room for great food, warm hospitality and a genuine sense of community.
Thank you to the amazing staff who made our experience worth it: Alie, server; Jeff Flores, manager and Sury Ramos, head of kitchen.
