Denver’s first pride celebration was held in Cheesman Park, 1974. It was quickly followed by the opening of The Center on Colfax in 1975 — a still-running nonprofit organization that supports and services the LGBTQ+ community. There are so many ways to embrace Pride this month and be around community, but you will really want to mark your calendars for the 50th anniversary of Denver PrideFest — the two-day festival event in Civic Center Park. It begins with a Pride 5K, then continues throughout the weekend hosting over 250+ exhibitors, 30 food vendors, live performances, Sunday’s Coors Light Pride Parade and an inaugural Gayborhood Market located in Lincoln Veterans Memorial Park.
