Mile High Music Series Gives Back To The Community Through Music

After a long year of musicians finding themselves secluded to live streams and virtual concerts, Mile High Music Series is bringing local Colorado artists back into the limelight with a community-oriented concert series, Concerts For A CauseThe series is taking place at Mile High Station, an open-spaced, industrial event center on West Colfax where attendees can enjoy the fresh summer air while listening to some tunes. Tickets for the outdoor event are $35, with $5 of that going directly to the non-profit partner of the week. Some of the organizations that will be recognized include Colorado Event Alliance, The Morgan Adams Foundation, Swallow Hill and Bringing Music Back to Life. Not only will you get the chance to rock out again, but a free drink, reserved seating, and table service are also included in the price of your ticket.

As we entered the summer last year and saw the devastation that was happening to our event industry, non-profit funding, and local artists’ livelihood we wanted to find a way to help our entire community,” said the Director of Sales & Marketing, Stephanie Helzer. “As a team, we sat down and tried to create something that gave back and was in a safe, physically distanced atmosphere. Our main goal is to help local, whether that is non-profits, artists, or our staff.”

Great music and a good cause are not the only things attendees will enjoy at the event. Scratch Kitchen Catering, a locally owned, comfort food restaurant, will provide food and refreshments. Mouthwatering scents, delectable foods and a rapidly changing menu will add to the unique experience of the event as guests enjoy an array of food and music. Mile High Music Series has truly considered the community when selecting its performers as well. With genres ranging from gospel to country and from indie, to drag, there is a show for anyone and everyone.

Though COVID is quickly coming to an end, strict protocols are still in place to make the event comfortable and fun for guests. To accomplish this, event creators are encouraging guests to wear masks outdoors and are keeping groups seated at least six feet apart. Hand sanitizing stations will also be placed throughout the event and high touched surfaces will be cleaned every hour. Additionally, the masked wait staff will serve tables to reduce foot traffic and maintain social distancing.

According to BBC News, live music revenues fell by an estimated 85% in 2020 due to the effective shutdown of concerts and festivals. To make things worse, reports also predicted that musicians could lose 65% of their income this year, with an even higher percentage for those most dependent on live performance and studio work. Though it has been a difficult year for artists, music lovers in Colorado can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that organizations like Mile High Music Series are doing the most to support the local music community and reverse these numbers.
