Here’s some news that’s downright “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious.” The Colorado Symphony has announced Mary Poppins In Concert at Boettcher Concert Hall on Friday, March 8, 2019. The forthcoming concert follows what the Colorado Symphony has done prior with their Star Wars and Harry Potter concerts, whereby the symphony will perform the original movie soundtrack in full as the original 1964 film plays on a massive screen erected behind them. Released in 1964, Mary Poppins received numerous awards and became a worldwide favorite, garnering 13 Academy Award nominations and winning five Oscars, two of which the original songwriters, brothers Richard and Robert Sherman received for “Chim Chim Cher-ee” and the film’s original musical score. In addition, the 14-track original motion picture soundtrack became the #1 album for 14 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Top 200 upon its release. The forthcoming performance also comes at an opportune time, as  Disney’s well-received sequel, Mary Poppins Returns, is currently in theaters sharing Mary Poppins’ magic with a whole new generation.

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, February 1, 2018, at 10 a.m. via coloradosymphony.org/tickets.
