Denver has some culture filled events lined up this week. Start it off by learning more about Albert Bierstadt at Artful Insight and end it by getting crafty at Foul-Mouth Cross-Stitch. Whatever you end up doing, make sure to take a look at this roundup of events happening in Denver.

Monday, December 17

Artful Insight

Where: American Museum of Western Art- The Anschutz Collection, 1727 Tremont Pl., Denver

The Lowdown: American Museum of Western Art- The Anschutz Collection presents Artful Insight. The event features a chance to learn more about Albert Bierstadt, an artist and member of The Hudson River School and namesake of one of the famous 14-ers. Bierstadt took inspiration from western landscapes and created masterpieces, some of which are now on display in the American Museum of Western Art.

Zoo Lights

Where: Denver Zoo, 2300 Steele St., Denver

The Lowdown: Denver Zoo presents Zoo Lights. The 28th annual event features 70 acres of over two million lights, animal encounters, illuminated animal sculptures and more. You can nibble on sweet snacks and sip on hot drinks while you walk the zoo and see all of the amazing lights

Mistletoe Market

Where: Halcyon, a hotel in Cherry Creek, 245 Columbine St., Denver 

Cost: Free admission

The Lowdown: Halcyon hosts its second annual Mistletoe Market. The event features a day to shop from more than 20 shops in Cherry Creek North in a marketplace setting. You can explore boutiques such as Southern Roots Boutique, Inspyre Boutique, Denver Darling Boutique and more.

Blossoms of Light

Where: Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York St., Denver

The Lowdown: Denver Botanic Gardens hosts its annual Blossoms of Light display this week. The interactive light display features animated LED lights that are sound reactive. You can sip on warm drinks, nibble on holiday treats and shop holiday souvenirs while you stroll through the lit up gardens.

Alamo Encore

The Lowdown: Alamo Drafthouse Denver presents Alamo Encore. The event features a screening of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. The wild Christmas film showcases a story about the Griswold family as they deal with SWAT teams, an exploding turkey, thousands of lights on their home and more.

Tuesday, December 18

Where: Denver Pavilions 500 15th St., Denver 

Cost: $3 per ride

The Lowdown: The Holiday Carousel is back by popular demand. The carousel will run all through December and bring in the new year with New Year’s Eve rides. The ride will bring you back to your childhood years with magic and Christmas cheer. All proceeds from the rides will go toward Food Bank for the Rockies to help feed those in need.

Yoga with Kangaroos

The Lowdown: You have heard of goat yoga but have you ever heard of kangaroo yoga? Zoo Chateau presents a chance to practice your vinyasas in the presence of the adorable animals from down under. The ticket price includes a spot with a mat, a 30-minute yoga class and interactions with kangaroos. Make sure to wear clothes that can get dirty.

Cirque Éloize Hotel

The Lowdown: Denver Center for the Performings Arts presents Cirque Éloize Hotel. The event features a performance of the play Cirque Éloize Hotel that follows the story of a hotel and those inhabit the rooms inside of it. You will be greeted by choreographed dances, acrobats, a colorful set and more. The play will fill your night with wonder and poetic grandeur.

DIY Fluid Pouring Ornaments

Black Sheep Friday

Christmas at the Sie
