Is it just us or is December flying by? We are entering the third full week of the month, and the Denver concert scene is still as busy as ever. This week in concerts includes over 80 shows happening throughout the Mile High City at more than 40 venues. If you’re looking for an early holiday gift to give someone this year, give the gift of concert tickets to any one of many shows this week. Whatever it is you’re looking for in terms of music, there’s bound to be something for you this week in Denver.
Monday, December 17
Recommended: The Brian Setzer Orchestra w/ Lara Hope & The Ark-Tones @ The Paramount Theatre
To kick things off this week, the legendary Brian Setzer Orchestra is taking over LoDo’s Paramount Theatre on Monday night. You might recognize Setzer’s voice from the late ’70s band Stray Cats on songs like “Rock This Town” or “Stray Cat Strut.” Nowadays, Setzer tours and records with his own band and he just happens to be bringing them to Denver this week. Fellow artists Lara Hope & The Ark-Tones are joining Setzer at The Paramount Theatre this Monday night.

On Tuesday night, Dazzle Jazz is hosting the Adam Bartczak Republic as they take over the venue for their 2018 Holiday show. This “Republic” is comprised of some incredible jazz musicians around Denver and takes the form of a full big band. If you’re looking for some swing in your life as well as something to get you in the holiday spirit, this will be the show to see this week.

On Wednesday, South African-born and now Colorado resident Gregory Alan Isakov is taking over the Soiled Dove Underground. Isakov is one of Denver’s best folk artists whose lyricism and sound will take you on a journey. Earlier this year, Isakov celebrated the release of this most recent album Evening Machines, which also functions as some killer recommended listening. If you’re looking for even more big name local talent, we’ve got you covered. On Thursday night, Nathaniel Rateliff is bringing the Night Sweats back to The Ogden Theatre for two nights. Rateliff always shows his hometown a lot of love whether it’s performing multiple times at Red Rocks or even more intimate settings such as The Ogden. Fellow band The Texas Gentlemen are set to open up for Rateliff on December 20. Both shows sold out very fast but if you can find a way to score some tickets, we recommend you take advantage of that resource.

To end the work week on Friday, The Fillmore is hosting the Conscious Alliance Holiday Party. Conscious Alliance is a nonprofit that collects food at national concerts to serve those in need. On Friday night, EDM artists BoomBox and Classixx, as well as Orchard Lounge, are taking over The Fillmore for this Conscious Alliance party. If you’re looking for some EDM in your life this week, look no further. On Saturday, EDM group Keys N Krates are headed to The Bluebird Theater. Keys N Krates have pretty much done it as far as Denver venues go. From Red Rocks to 1st Bank Center to The Bluebird – this group gives Denver a lot of love. Colorado artist CRL CRRLL and producer Unexotic are joining Keys N Krates as they make their way into the Mile High City. Tickets are still available to see these artists in action on Saturday.
