DFW-Inspired Beauty Looks Worth Recreating

While Denver Fashion Week (DFW), presented by Mile High Luxury Real Estate, rapidly approaches, many in the fashion community are planning, prepping and detailing outfit and beauty looks for each night. To aid in this exciting, yet sometimes overwhelming process, 303 Magazine took to the talented hair stylist, Joe Denny, and makeup artist, Emily Jayne, to create the perfect looks for each night of runway shows. These looks, filled with various bright and smokey makeup options and unconventional, unique hair looks, are sure to add the finishing touches to any fashion forward outfit worn at DFW.

YOUTHFUL

The Lowdown: A fresh face paired with loose waves perfectly mimic a modern and youthful look for the Children and Teenage Fashion Show. To elevate this look, nestle a messy braid around the crown of the head and secure it with an unseen bobby pin. When adding a hair feature such as this braid, the look is immediately heightened by the amount of detail present. For makeup, minimal eyeshadow is needed, but a pop of light color on the cheeks makes you feel awake, vibrant and glowing. Top the look off with a glossy lip color and subdued highlight on the cheekbones.

STREET STYLE

The Lowdown: With Denver rapidly becoming a hub for a fashion-forward community, street style inspiration is everywhere you look. From the coffee shop to 16th Street to the wine bar around the block, street style is present in a unique and positive way. When expressing this look, a shaved head or pixie cut are foolproof ways to be stylish and up-to-the-minute for Day Five, the Street Style Fashion Show. For definition on the face, a light contour of the cheekbones is necessary with filled-in eyebrows in a natural, yet bold manner that bring a statement to the face.

HOLLYWOOD GLAM

The Lowdown: In the midst of this classic and sophisticated look, the focus relies heavily on the subdued eye makeup and red-hot lip for Day Seven, National Designers presented by Garbarini. To achieve this look, create a smooth and straight line at the top base of the lashes, extending it out past the eyelid. Add dimension to the eye with a pop of light brown eyeshadow, then pair the red lip color. Worn by a wide array of celebrities and fashion-forward subjects over the years, this vibrant lip combo with eyeliner dates back to the Marilyn Monroe days and for good reason. The timeless presence of this allows you to channel your inner glam self and be present in a highly elegant way.

AVANT-GARDE

The Lowdown: This unconventional, daring look is such a fitting way to conclude DFW with the bold Hair Show. As the week-long event ends with the hair show, designers and attendees go beyond basic makeup and hair looks. The over-the-top manner of this night is to present yourself in a daring and wild light and to bring attention to the many strands atop your head. With this untamed look, a middle sleek part is achieved by using a tacky pomade, then free-flowing curls in a ponytail at the base of the neck. A blended deep brown smokey eye that extends past the brows is a major bonus paired with a nude or light pink lip.
