20 Fashion Events to Attend this November

Great things happen in November as we are reminded of the many things to be grateful for. From crimson sunsets, chunky sweaters, snow on the ground to parties that allow us to dress up and have some fun, we are so thankful November is finally here. Luckily, we rounded up some pretty amazing fashion events that will keep you in the holiday spirit and allow you to give back to some amazing causes. 

OVATION by RAW Artists Denver

The Lowdown: The RAW artists Denver never let us down. Through music, fashion, hair, makeup, photography, accessories, performance and visual art, artists from around the city are given a platform to showcase their art in an alternative way. The natural born artists specializing in fashion include Jesus Omar Perez and Jackie Reynolds.

The Lowdown: The time of year that every fashion lover in Denver gets excited for is finally here. Denver Fashion Week has proven to be one of the biggest fashion events in the state of Colorado.

Day 1 – Children’s and Teen Fashion Show & Local Designers
When: Sunday, November 4, 3 – 9 p.m.
Where: Lumenati Productions — 3839 Jackson St., Denver
The Lowdown: Featuring some of the veteran designers, night one will be one to remember. The Children’s and Teen Fashion show will feature Pleiades Designs, Peach and Penny, Beauty Underground Kids and Shape Streetwear. Local designers include Steve Sells Studios, Topping Designs, Rachel Marie Hurst, Tyne Hall and Allison Nicole.

Day 2 – Models Workshop
When:  Monday, November 5,  6:30-8:30 p.m.
Where:  McNichols Civic Center Building –144 W Colfax Ave., Denver
The Lowdown: During the model workshop, you’ll receive tips on how to prep as a model for a DFW casting, how to walk the DFW runway along with backstage etiquette and how to prep before a DFW show. The host, Julie Gallahue, Denver Fashion Week Model Coordinator and owner of Goldie Mae Productions, will also share how the DFW team chooses models during the casting

Day 3 – Designers Workshop
When:  Tuesday, November 6,  6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Where:  McNichols Civic Center Building –144 W Colfax Ave., Denver
The Lowdown: This night is broken down into two segments. Segment One: Carol Engel-Enright will share information on small-batch manufacturing. Engel-Enright holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Design and Merchandising at Colorado State University. Segment Two: Learn how to identify fabric without knowing the fiber content using your own senses with help from a Colorado fabrics expert. Whether you’re a student or designer, this workshop will help you to understand the different uses for the wide variety of fabrics.

Day 4 – Fashion and Film Workshop
When:  Wednesday, November 7,  6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Where:  McNichols Civic Center Building –144 W Colfax Ave., Denver
The Lowdown: Denver Fashion Week is teaming up with Denver Film Festival for a workshop you don’t want to miss. Costume designer, Courtney Hoffman, will lead this discussion. She is best known for her work on Quentin Tarantino films like Django Unchained, where she was the personal costumier for Christoph Waltz.

Day 5 – Street Style Fashion Show
When:  Thursday, November 8, at 6:30 p.m.
Where:  Lumenati Productions — 3839 Jackson St., Denver
The Lowdown: The excitement surrounded by this night is unmatched. On this night, we get to indulge in creations by DFW newcomers DarkmOth Industry, Rebellelion, Electric Bubblegum, Station, A Vintage Frame of Mind and Interracial Friends.

Day 7: National Designers presented by Garbarini
When: Saturday, November 10, at 7 p.m.
Where: Lumenati Productions — 3839 Jackson St., Denver
The Lowdown: While you should attend all nights of DFW, this is a must-attend show. Garbarini, a local boutique that has been selling designer women’s apparel and shoes since 1985, has curated a collection from major design houses like Zadig & Voltaire, Milly and J Brand for this exclusive experience. 

Day 8: The Hair Show
When: Sunday, November 11 at 4 p.m.
Where: Lumenati Productions — 3839 Jackson St., Denver
The Lowdown: Hands down the most unique night of DFW. From colorful tresses to beautifully constructed hair pieces, some of Denver’s best hairstylist leave nothing left for the imagination. Some heavyweight salons include Beauty Underground, Joe Denny, The Look, Three Cutters, Charlie Price and James Mucker.

The Lowdown: Eyes Open Project and DFW are coming together to discuss what it means to be a maker in a smaller scale city like Denver or Portland. Hailing from the Mile High City, we have Winter Session, C.R. LEE and Mercury Mercury.  The Portlanders include Barrow PDX and Bridge & Burn. Vanessa Barcus will moderate the panel and the first 50 attendees will get a gift bag from the Eyes Open Project.
