Pop-Ups, Ball Pits, Synths and Surprises – Why You Need to Check Out The Imagination Stage

Denver’s annual Underground Music Showcase is well-known for bringing a heap of amazing artists to Denver. They’re doing it again this year with over 300 artists and four stages, one of which is hosted by your very own 303 Magazine. The Imagination Stage — located at Import Mechanics at 235 Broadway — holds a weekend full of artistry and ingenuity. The venue itself features vintage cars, a record pop-up shop in an old school bus, a lounge from 303 Magazine (with many surprises to come), a ball pit car, interactive installations and much more.  The musical lineup isn’t too shabby either.

Saturday kicks off with New York electronic-indie artist Brothertiger. The stage features local Denver artists Motion Trap and OKO TYGRA as well as other stunning acts like DUCKWRTH, Gang Gang Dance, J. Hoard, REWARDS and REYNA. If that isn’t enough variety, Sunday owns its full lineup as well. Dark indie pop three-piece The Milk Blossoms will grace the stage with their experimental sounds along with other Denver performers electronic-R&B artist MILKY.WAV, R&B producer SecsPeterson, power-pop quartet Panther Martin and psychedelic rockers The Savage Blush. To throw more on the fire, Gods of Groove, Holy Wave and Nights Beats (you read that right) will also be there.

For the hungry, “imaginative” food trucks rotate all weekend and a surprise culinary experiences (UMS recommends, you show up early) Saturday. Fear not, it’s far from a dry weekend. There are specialty cocktail pop-up bars, craft beer from Oskar Blues and canned wine from Infinite Monkey Theorem.

For the visually stimulated, soak up an installation from Denver multimedia artist CacheFlowe who has been praised by the internet for his combining of coding, music and visuals to create “algorithmic designs.” Attendees can also catch live mural art from RUMTUM Creations, play with synths from WMD Mod Synth, chill among plants from Lula Rose or dive into a ball pit car. As mentioned above, our 303 Lounge will hold a variety of surprises — just sign up for The Underground to get alerts on when and what.

Get your grub, drink and groove on, festival-goers. Come hang with us for good times, mesmerizing art and, of course, great music.
