This Week In Concerts – Lane 8, Current Joys, Future Heroes and More

It’s the fourth week of March, schools are out for Spring break and there are over 60 concerts going on in the Mile High City. From events that are fun for the whole family to all-out ragers there are events for everyone this week. If you haven’t heard already, we’re releasing a record in May to celebrate the always bustling Denver music scene. Until then, celebrate the Denver concert scene by attending some of the events below.

Monday, March 19

On Monday, Current Joys will be bringing their throwback indie-techno sound to the Larimer Lounge. Earlier this month, Current Joys released their latest record A Different Age which includes nine classic indie tracks. Joining Current Joys are Colorado acts Cocordion and Ashley Koett making this a great way to spend a Monday night.

Tuesday, March 20

Coming all the way out of Liverpool, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark is headed to Denver on Tuesday to headline at The Ogden Theatre. The Liverpool-based act is known for their throwback ’80s electro-pop sound which makes them very entertaining to listen to. Opening up for Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark is the Milwaukee band GGOOLLDD. Come see these two acts as they come through the Mile High City this Tuesday.

The Lil Smokies are a bluegrass string band mixed with a little bit of rock. On Wednesday, The Lil Smokies are headed out of their home state of Montana to take over The Bluebird Theater. Joining them is Colorado band Rapidgrass as they bring their music to Denver.

If you’re looking for a night of rock mixed with some acoustic elements, The Glorious Sons will be performing at Globe Hall on Thursday. The Glorious Sons are known for their smooth blend of intense rock mixed with the melodic sound of an acoustic guitar. Denver’s own rock bands One Flew West and Birch Street are opening the show.

Friday, March 23

On Friday, Denver based DJ Lane 8 will be taking over The Ogden. Lane 8 is known for his deep house tracks that will make you dance to the rhythm immediately. The Denver-based producer released his first album Rise back in 2015 and has been gaining momentum in the EDM scene ever since. Australia’s own synth-pop band Fairchild is on the bill for the evening as well making this a great chance to see both Colorado talent and international talent combine.

The Colorado Symphony will be performing at Broomfield’s 1st Bank Center on Saturday as they take a trip through a galaxy far, far away. In this performance, The Colorado Symphony will be playing the music from the film Star Wars: A New Hope by the legendary composer John Williams. This event is a perfect family-friendly event to enjoy over the weekend as there are shows on Saturday and Sunday.

Denver hip-pop group Future Heroes will be taking on The Bluebird Theater to round out this week. Future Heroes, consisting of members under the names Mars and Ken Deezy, are known for their energetic music and stage presence. Joining the Denver duo are fellow musicians Safa Gaw, Legion, Doze and Tha Lituation. Tickets are still available for this Sunday night showcase, so get them while you still can.
