Summer is in full swing for Denver and while we’re just as excited as you are for concerts out in the open, exercise under the sun and downtown nights on Larimer, we also believe you can look good doing any of these. Move that flannel to the back of the closet and save the plain tee for next time, here’s a guide on how to represent your city in style and where to support your local fashion scene.

Summer Concert

Whether you’re catching a show at Red Rocks or attending the latest music festival, we know there’s plenty of not-to-be-missed concerts this summer. And just because Coachella is over doesn’t mean you can’t let it inspire you. We’re going with a boho twist for this Denver outfit so that you can look fab and freespirited with this getup from Meraki Moon. Distressed denim, suede capes, fringe and light knit tanks are some of the many options to choose from. Look effortless and comfortable without sacrificing style.

In Denver, it is not unheard of to invest more money in activewear than clothes for your closet. With 300 days of sunshine, there’s almost always a setting for people to exercise. However, active isn’t synonymous with drab. Leggings with sheer inserts, like these ones from Shea, will provide the ultimate comfort but also look chic as you run down the street. A tank top doesn’t have to be boring either. Choose pieces with some extra detail, like this graphic tank from  32nd West.

Denver Dapper

We know there are plenty of dudes in Denver who want to step up their style but also don’t want to rock a leopard print blazer and red pants. Nothing wrong with either, we’re fans of both ends. However, right now we’re looking at you guys who want to look dapper without feeling like you’re wearing a three-piece suit, and still carry some Denver ruggedness without looking like a ranch hand. Pieces like this simple but stylish blazer and short-sleeve button-up from Spruce are both dapper and easy to wear. Take a pair of your own jeans and boots and bring in the rugged factor. Finish off with your favorite watch, sunglasses or bracelets, and get ready to turn heads.

Street Cool

Streetwear is full of current hot trends but you don’t want to walk into the mall and look like you ransacked the streetwear corner at H&M. The goal is to look fresh but not overplayed either. This Bape raincoat (yes, you can get Bape in Denver, you just have to know where to look) allows for vintage swag without being too flashy, and brings in the longline trend and the ‘9os trend simultaneously. Distressed Balmain jeans (yes, you read that right) look great and a dad hat finishes off an outfit that’s designer without being in your face and urban at its roots. Wearing a shirt is up to you. The Fax on West Colfax carries everything you see here and rare pieces like Supreme, as well as local brands like Defiant Society.

Night Out

A night out with your girlfriends is always an occasion for fashion. Push the envelope, have fun and paint the town red with an outfit everyone will love. A slip dress from Meraki Moon is très très chic and get creative with how you want to dress it up. A leather jacket, belt and heavy silver necklaces are all great additions that will still allow the dress to take center stage. Don’t stop there, as earrings, sunglasses, a second layering necklace and purse from Shea are all invited to this ensemble.
